CPU Usage

I was wondering why the game constantly uses 100% of CPU time, I wouldn't mind if it weren't for the fact that I like to run distributed computing software (which always run in idle mode). So is there a way to lower the game's priority or to make it stop using all of the CPU's cycles? (which I'm sure of it doesn't need anyway, since it's a 1.8GHz system)

thnx

edit: running win98SE, so i can't change priority with the task manager

Are you playing in W98 either or in DOS? I play the game in DOS under W98SE (too), have no trouble with the CPU usage though.

I'm playing it in a window in W98, cause i still want to be able to do a little surfing and chatting while playing tt. Will try playing it in a DOS window and see if it makes any difference.

Works great, even Alt+Tab works!. Don't think it was designed for that  .

Can't run the DOS version in a window, so that isn't going to be an option. Probably need to install win2k and make the game's priority lower than my DC programs'.

It works on my PC! Did you right-click on the shortcut of ttdpatch.exe and make it DOS-compatible??? It really should work!

There's no option for making it DOS compatible, the game works full-screen but not in a window. Whenever I hit alt+enter to make it run in a window I get this white screen saying that it doesn't support the necessary screen settings. Besides the DOS version still takes up 100% of the CPU cycles so that isn't gonna help either :?

Dan, the game can't use 100% of CPU. Check what else is running at same time. And for everybody! Download the "End IT All"! Do a search on Google and then use it before running any game. Great program to speed games and get more power from your CPU. 8)

Try turning on the win2k switch (even though you're on Windows 98) and see if that helps.

Owen meant Windows 98. Funny the way it looked though.

Nope doesn't seem to help, was running the system monitor to check my cpu usage, and every time I start TT it goes straight to 100%, think i'll just start formating my harddisk and install win2k, atleast then I'll be able to lower it's priority.

thnx for all your help & ideas
