Aircraft questions

Post by jonf45uk »

hi, having just started using paasky's superb aircraft pack i was wondering:
1, is it possible to create aircraft in real airline liveries, as is done with the train liveries?
2,paasky, any chance of vc10, trident and bac 1-11 planes(grovel,grovel!!)-they're not too dissimilar to the il-62,boeing 727 and dc-9!!
and 3, is it possible to create military aircraft?- just thought it might be fun to be able to protect the citizens of my country!!. I know they wouldn't make money, but you get to a stage where you've got so much it doesn't matter anymore!. you may think i'm mad, but i thought i'd ask!
anyway, thanks again

"Protection" generally means violence, these are Transport games, you want war go play Command and Counquer generals.

Aside from that I agree with you. MORE PLANES

Military planes would be a great addition :D You could have Soviet and USA planes flying the skies at once, and we could all pretend the cold war turned hot.......... I have got to stop playing FEAR/Quake 4

i used to like the ufo's!!
anyway i just meant it would be cool to have something else to waste money on, when you get to that stage!!!
just imagine a vulcan etc flying about the place though!!
seriously though, i hope someone does some more planes as the last lot were excellent, and much needed.

speaking of disasters, a tiny bit off topic (sorry in advance), did anyone else see the little black fighter planes that popped up in TT every now and then? What were they all about?

You could've posted this in the Pack thread, almost didn't notice it ;)
Almost all Soviet passenger planes were either converted or developed simultaneously as the military ones, so as I'm going to do the Tupolev family (104 to 154 + the 224) aswell as the Ilyushin family, you're going to get them 8)

I was searching for a way to import FS98-2004 .mdl files into 3dsmax, that way I could simply import it, paint it a bit, render it, re-palette it & create stats and it's ready. Anyone know how to do this? I could try the gmax scripts which come with FS2002 if they work in 3dsmax. If that's not possible, I like modeling so they will come.

Painting them in real liveries is possible, I just have to get the Render to Texture thing working... Then even you could re-paint them!

There is one small but: Civ4 is coming out tomorrow, and I'm afraid I will be totally hooked on it for a few months

The UFOs in TTD were annoying as hell. The little one was the scout from XCOM: UFO Defense (another MPS game of the time) and it would just randomly smash a bus (I even saw it homing in on my one bus and so ordered that bus into depot - b****** UFO flew into the depot to kill it). They appeared until the 1950s.

The big UFO was an Alien Battleship from the same game, the 'black aircraft' was in fact the navy blue Skyranger VTOL - it didn't carry weapons, so how it made the UFO explode I don't know. And then you had a big chunk of missing tracks to replace (unless you stopped trains on the tracks, natch). These appeared for about ten years, starting around 1998.
