Different vehicles is 224, except some more because a bug.
Total vehicles to build by one player is somewhere around 6200 pieces.
If you want more different trains, don't use boats, planes or trucks.
Then you have more than enough choice.
A German topic about the max vehicles just happens here:

you can't go over the limit without editing the .exe file and you can't do that because of something i cant remember why. something about the EULA or somthing like that..............

.........right? (please say i'm right)

For RCT2 there was a patch that enabled an unlimited selection of items - once you clicked something in the box the number of items went up to 1 briefly then back to 0 after it having been selected.

I can't remember who made it, but given the similarity of RCT2 and locomotion surely a variant of the same patch could be made for locomotion?

Since the list of vehicles can only hold 224 entries, if you add more (by whatever means), you're gonna overwrite some other important savegame data and make the game unstable.

Looking at the savegame format, you'll probably overwrite some of the trees, and the money history records.

So, while it may seem like you can have more vehicle types, it's not a good idea because your game will break eventually.

Possibly, but I never encountered any errors in RCT2 due to that. Maybe I got lucky.

Am I speaking to THE Josef Drexler?

If so, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for the patches you have made for a few of the tycoon games, they've expanded their lifetime immensely...

Do you really *need* 244 DIFFERENT vehicles in there? And have a genuine use for them all? I'd unselect all the crap, like the early trucks and the default carriages (as the addon sets you're using undoubtedly come with something far superior)

more people should show true respect like this bloke does.

anyway, it's not that i might use 224 different vehicles at a time, but it's the actual limit and the fact it can't be done that bothers me. if i had the skills i'd create a solution right now, regardless whatever EULA.

PLEASE READ EIS_OS'S ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE MAIN PAGE
I am also agreeing with the fact that You Should Not Decompile, MODIFY, Reverse Engineer, Disassemble or Recreate the EXE.
