The transfer option...

What does the transfer option do? Is it supposed to do anything yet? I mean, I'm noticing that the cargo gets unloaded and it explains how much "transfer money" I get, but I never get that amount. So while the cargo is being transfered I'm not making any extra money...is it not entirely working yet? Or am I doing something wrong...
Thanks

I'm not too sure how it works either because I thought you'd get the money straight away(but now that I think about it, that wouldn't be too realistic). So the way I see it now is that you will get the money for transfers when the cargo gets to the final destination.
The whole use for this is so your feeder trains get profit aswell, otherwise you will lose overall score because your train with the minimum profit will be negative, so you can't have a score of 1000 with feder trains. This should fix that.

That makes complete sense...and that's what I assumed they did! Right from the start I assumed that the transfer income text meant how much you'd make when it finally gets there, but it doesn't work like that. Yes the cargo is eventually getting there, thus helping the load, but no, I am definately not receiving any extra money at any time! I think feeder systems are so cool, and I can't imagine this would be a hard bug to fix.
Just letting you guys know...

I think this bug has already been
reported.
And you'll never guess what I had to search on to find that thread.
... wait for it ...
"transfer"
Yep. Searching the OTTD section for the single word "transfer" produced that thread as the sixth result.

I'm gonna have to start using "transfer" in unrelated topics to make the search function useless. Useless! Useless! I am the breaker of search functions, hwahahahahah. SIGNALS! DELAY! BRIDGES! Mwahahahahh!

lol yeah, well hopefully it'll be fixed before you can do damage chairface. hehe
Sorry...I finally used the search option too and found mixed responses and feelings, but it looks like it all came down to it being a bug. Guess I'll have to route my trains differently for now.
Thanks for the help everyone...

actually, i think it was done like that on purpose.
the money is gained from the delivery train, as on a normal service, however, all feeder sevices get an imaginary transfer value, that isn't payed, because it was payed when the final train delivered its cargo.
as stated above, this is to make sure you don't have negative value feeder serves going, preventing you from getting your max score.

But it *isn't* paid. All you get is the money from the last leg of the transportation.

yes i know where to get the nightlies, started using them from 28xx till 3000 now.... but WTF is the transfer option?

So you can have feeder systems going, originally when you dropped of cargo for another train to take it the rest of the way all of the trains that contributed to the cargo getting there would get a negative profit every year. To stop this the transfer option now let trains get income depending on how far they carried the cargo along the line.
But it seems this is not working properly.

Where are you looking for it? I found it exactly where I expected it to be.
The fact that you can't find it means that your brain works very differently than the devs', so if you can explain where you wanted to find it, maybe it'll appear there too.

i don't know how else to put this, but.
you get payed for delivering the cargo as if it were a normal route. same as if it wasn't transfer, delivering train gets 100% of the total jurney payment. the extra part added for transfer is that every other train used in the transfer route also gets an imaginary transfer payment, simply to prevent the profit of those trains dropping below zero. this transfer payment isn't actually payed, because its covered in the delivery, which is the actual payment.

But if you sheck your bank balance, when the cargo is finally delivered, your balance only increases by the amount that the last train earned on its leg.
eg. a coal service i just tested unloaded about 6 squares away from a power plant, this got a transfer of $60,000 dollars, another train passed it onto the power plant and it got an income of about $500. Over that whole process my bank account only increased by $500.

yes.
this SHOULD be the same cash as you get when you do the same thing without the transfer options.

I think what thepizzaking means is this :
StationX --(Feeder)--> Mainstation --(MainLine)--> Deliverystaion
The feedertrain gets a part of the money from the Mainline.
The money is shared.
But the distance StationX to Mainstation is never counted.
StaionX to Deliverystation would normaly be more lucrative then Mainstation to Deleverystation. This isnt the case at this time.

if thats true, then its broken.
but if you were to do that normally, without the transfer option, the cash from the final jurney would be more than if the final jurney was the whole jurney.
