RefitRoadVehicleSWindows(Version).grf & RefitTRainwagonSWindows(Version).grf :o
... are two GRFs that make it possible to refit TTD standard road vehicles and train wagons, in order to carry the new cargos provided by Michael Blunck's NewCargoSet.

What's this 'refitting' feature anyhow?
In plain TTD, you always can refit all airplanes and the freight ships to any new cargo available. This is not possible with train wagons and road vehicles by design.
With these two GRFs however, you can refit train wagons and road vehicles to certain new cargos 8). These new cargos have to be installed separately, namely by activating Michael Blunck's NewCargoSet.

Why two different files instead of one?
Having two files comes in very handy. For example, you like to play with the DBSet XL, but choose to stick with the TTD road vehicles. So, you just have to disable refittrsw.grf! I think that’s the most user-friendly way, because you don’t have to set and remember parameters in the newgrfw.cfg.

Who should use these GRFs?
Anyone that likes to play with TTD standard vehicles and does not want to miss the great enhancement of Michael Blunck's NewCargoSet.
Using that new cargo GRF, you will have to transport fish, food and beer as well (that might change in future though).
With refitrvsw.grf and / or refittrsw.grf activated, you can refit the oil tanker to carry beer and the good van to fish or food. The best of it all is, that they even change the look when refitted :) although there are no new graphics at all :(.
Look at the PNG file at the end of this post for a visualization of these refit options...

Do these files support the GRF Resource Management?
Yes, they do!
GRF Resource Management allows to check, if other GRFs have already reserved vehicles for themselves. If that’s the case, refitrvsw.grf and refittrsw.grf behave politely and will deactivate themselves (and not, like other GRFs, sending conflicting GRFs to hell).
However, GRF Resource Management is not supported by all GRFs around here, so you still might get serious conflicts when you try to use other train or road vehicle GRFs at the same time.

What to know about the German version of these GRFs?
The German version of these GRFs are marked by the suffix “_de” (refitrvsw_de.grf and refittrsw_de.grf).
The difference between the English and the German version only matters to the GRF Status Window. Both versions are completely identical, beside the few text strings shown in the GRF Status Window.
Therefore, you should install the German GRFs, if you would like to have German messages in the GRF Status Window.

Have got red flags in the GRF Status Windows! What’s up?
It could be a serious bug, but before you post into this thread, check this:
Read an eventual message in the GRF Status Window and do what you’re told.
These GRFs will deactivate themselves automatically, if you play elsewhere than in Temperate World or you have got a patch version older than alpha 58.
Other train or road vehicle GRFs will also deactivate these GRFs.

Refitrvsw.grf - File properties
* File name: refitrvsw.grf
* German version: refitrvsw_de.grf
* File size: 21,611 bytes
* 96 grf sprites, nothing new here :oops:
* 54 nfo lines, entirely coded by me :]

Refittrsw.grf - File Properties
* File name: refittrsw.grf
* German version: refittrsw_de.grf
* File size: 5,846 Bytes
* 49 GRF sprites, nothing new here :oops:
* 77 NFO lines, entirely coded by me :]

Nota bene - Very important
:!: Compatible with Windows version of TTD only :!:
:!: Incompatible with the 'Cargo Set', 'DBSet XL' or any other vehicle set :!:
:arrow: Designed for temperate world only.
:idea: You have to make use of Michael Blunck's NewCargoSet, otherwise you won't see any effect.
:idea: If you find the standard vehicles being too slow, just alter them using TTDAlter.

For proper installation of these GRFs, read chapter 4.3.1 of the TTDPatch Manual (online: NewGraphicsInstallation).
You are kindly invited to post a) well described, re-producable problems b) thoughtful comments into this thread.

Beneath, you will find the download, but first comes a PNG file, showing the way the GRFs will work in your games.

Just a few comments:
- you could make it sprite-free by reusing TTD's sprites; just set prop. 0E to the values that TTD uses for the respective vehicle
- I think beer comes in bottles or kegs, so the tanker isn't the best choice, the goods truck would be better
- paper trucks are already enabled by the updated paper.grf on my site

Time for an update, don’t you think :lol:

* Removed refitting the Wood to Paper Truck, since patchman’s updated paper(w).grf already include them
* Corrected a few ugly code style errors
* Files are relating to Michael Blunk’s NewCargoW.grf now (useless if not installed)
* Implemented GRF Resource Management (files behave politely)
* New: Refittrsw.grf (refit train wagons as well)
* New: German version of both GRFs, providing German text strings for the GRF Status Window.

Check the first post of this thread for details and downloads.
