An ideia for Sea transport

Hi! This is my first post, so I hope it's useful!
I had this idea for sea transports, by noting that a future version of ttdpatch will include a floating crane. So the idea is this:
Depending if it is possible to limit the number of ships in a port, harbour or pier, to make possible for ships to unload their cargo at buoys, placed near the port, if a floating crane is present, and the floating crane would then unload the cargo at the port in a place just for cranes... the cranes would have a very limited range.
This is what happens in real life, to minimize the wating lines of ships to ports. This way, we could get a more realistic, more complex simulation and give some usefulness to floating cranes.
best regards

Welcome to the forums
I agree with your idea, and i think that it might be possible - sounds like a lot of work

. Hopefully the patchman can tell you for sure. I'm not sure if he has gone on vacation yet

What I would like to see are "industries" on the mapedge that represent other cities, each at such a distance. Then you could have supertankers bringing crude in from other areas of the world, and planes flying across the ocean to bring distant passengers to your islands.

Hi and welcome !
I think the cranes were just eyecandy and won't get in the game
industries that represent cities ? what do you mean with this ?

I think he means seaports with ships coming from outside the map delivering various goods, and airports getting passengers from planes also coming from outside the map. The seaports sound like a good idea to me.
Good idea

I think it’s a good and funny idea to have industries representing towns outside the map. I know that we are on an island but maybe we can have a bridge representing the way to another city.
Let’s make a new topic for this!
Fist time for me posting =)--

what he means is that industries are connected (by name) with cities, which are not shown on the map

Well something like that.
On the side of the map is a road or a custom-station that represents a way to another city. The “station” except and produce different tings to simulate that the town of the edge of the map produces tings.
But if we can’t solve the “island problem” then it would be more realistic to have a TIP (Trans Island Port)

. That will send tings over sea. It will bring a new dimension in to this game. With a little cost.

I think i know what you mean , you want to start trade with foreign countries/towns that are not visible on the screen !
Like goods and other stuff coming in at the edge and you must transport them over the map ??

But what happenes when you are playing with the world map?

Maybe trade with other planets?

The TTD world is too small to make a realistic world map on it.
