WackoTranslator version 0.1

Post by GoneWacko »

Hehehe well here it is people! WackoTranslator 0.1!!!

Some notes first:

The program is once again built with the trial version of Delphi 6... This means you'll have to put back the system clocks to 2001 or earlier to make the program work (or you could try first... Maybe the date isn't expired yet... but in a short time, it will be...)

The program will not contain the Pig Latin and 1337(elite) functions: they haven't been implemented yet!!

Then I would like to thank Observer for helping me with the ROT program (especially giving me some cool ideas )

The Backwards function did work with multiple lines, but it would translate newlines to some character the program didn't completely recognize... I've found a way to make it work but that was only possible in cross-platform, making other functions hard to create, and text look really bad and hard to see...

The ROT function doesn't work 100% yet... it'll work with Capital letters, but with normal letters, it'll screw up completely! I'll try to find a solution to that some time soon.

Some info on the ROT function...

First, you simply fill in the text you want to encode.
Then, you set the ROT Integer (like ROT13) with the small input box... If you use the keyboard instead of the spinner buttons, don't put the value higher than 25... It'll give you an error why, and also reset the value to 25... Afterwards, just press the button and the translated text will appear in the bottom inputbox...

Please keep in mind a couple of things...

A. this is freeware.. That means I'm giving it away for free... That also means I would hate you for ever if you'd publish it under your name... So please don't! I've worked a long time to get stuff working!!!

B. If you find bugs or anything else worth to mention, email me or post it here!!!

Right that's about it...

One more thing... Don't mind the text behind the missing functions saying 'you will be informed of updates IF you supplied your email'... This is for when I plan on publishing it online some time...

I'm also planning on trying to uninstall Delphi 6 Enterprise and reintall it with the system clock set on 1980... that way, I can use it for a LONG time and also publish my work with less difficulties

hehe ok click the link to download it!

Ok I checked it out... looks good.
2 things:
- I understand you want to expand the program with more features.. but in a 1.0 release all the buttons have a function. If not implemented, do not make buttons for it. (or tab-sheets) never mind though :D
- I did not have to set my time to earlier... :D :D
But I still suggest (like over msn) that you should never publish a program using a trial version of the environment.
Use VB instead !! you got that one :P 8)
Never fear, I is here...

ehm... :)

Hehe now that I understand why non capital letters don't work I'll try to find a delphi 6 solution for it hahaha

And I could try making something with VB... I also found a way to implement a lot more components with VB so that problem is solved :)

And the program is version 0.1, so non working buttons are ok :)

Well ladies and gentlemen (well actually, boys and girls ) here it is!! VERSION 0.2!!!

First off, some notes on changes!!

I have fixed a couple of things:

1. I have rebuilt the ROT function... it is now capable of working with normal characters as well! It also supports Newlines in ROT mode, but not without it's bugs... (some red text will appear next to the ROTALIZE button with info about that)

2. I've added the ABOUT and FUTURE VERSIONS functions. About is pretty obvious: It tells you about publishing the program (omg i just found an error in that :D hehe al well that'll be fixed in 0.3 hahaha), and it thanks some people (go and Download it to see if you're in there now!!!)
The Future Versions option is a screen with info on stuff that will be implemented in future versions... You can check that whenever a new version comes out to see if new functions have been planned :)
The screen also includes a button with 'Changes Log' but when I was programming it, delphi started giving me 100000000 errors... (i'm serious about that number ). SO that's something for the next version :D

3. I think that's about it! maybe some minor changes... nothing too important  High probability that the 1337 function will be implemented in 0.3, and else, 0.4!

Go ahead and download it with the link below!!!
Be sure to email comments/problems and bugs reports to: stijn.gijsen@freeler.nl !!!

HMm observer just told me of the following bug: Spaces are not supported yet!!!

This is a SERIOUS bug!!! Don't be surprised if 0.3 will be released tomorrow or even TODAY, with just that fixed (or maybe the changes log as well :D)

in a 1.0 release everything should be working or not there.. But this is a 0.1 so it doesn't really matter :P

Great work, GoneWacko. But it needs a lot more work, importants things are missing :P

btw what is your goal of creating this program? do you want us to send coded messages to each other? or really...you are making it just for fun?

lol... I think he actually joined the board just to say that hahaha

And about oliciv: Just wait a little longer. Version 0.1 was released 4 days ago, so the 1337 part might just be here in a week (Schoolholidays hehehe so that'll speed up the process as well)

It's nice to see you can also say something a little more serious hehehe (sorry if you don't like me saying it...) Let's just think of the tt network thread like a thread where you can shout at each other hehehe. If you agree, I would like to make sure of this: we will not swear at each other or call names to another that is not funny... You can say some stuff, but not the real harsh (lol finally remember the word hahaha) stuff... Is that an agreement??

The 1337 function will most like enable you to type in your text, and let the program translate it. BUT when the character has multiple possible translations in 1337, you are given the choice to select a certain character/symbol you wish to use as the translation... In a later version, you will also be able to set a certain character as a default (you won't be prompted for it again, ever, unless you disable it with the OPTIONS tab, the one that doesn't do anything yet. You can also set a certain character to be used in the entire translation.

Oh go on then :P - I can't think of anything else annoying to post anyway tbh

Means that you may actually see some more sensible posts from me though
