I've become addicted to this song. Sweden really does have some great singers, no wonder their Eurovision record is so good! Don't know Swedish, don't know what the song is about, but I still love it!
Re: Whatcha listening 2 @ da moment?
I've never heard of him, but the song definitely is familiar. It sounds like extremely typical mid 2010s Swedish pop, so if this is your type of music check out these guys:Redirect Left wrote: ↑02 Dec 2020 05:43 I've become addicted to this song. Victor Leksell
Daniel Adams Ray
Albin Johnsén
Oscar Zia
Or just peruse his Spotify and listen to "Similar artists".
The song is about a girl he likes, basically saying "should we get together tonight?". The title Fan va bra translates literally to "f*** great", but is used in a positive manner in this case. So, more figuratively, "f*** yeah! "I suppose.
EDIT: Or just check out Sweden's top 50 on Spotify. Christmas songs beginning to creep up, though:

Re: Whatcha listening 2 @ da moment?
Apparently he (Jakob Karlberg) did compete on Melodifestivalen 2020, with the song '"Om du tror att jag saknar dig"', although he didn't get far. Which is a shame, from his other songs and the one i linked, it does seem a formula for a typical pop song that tends to do relatively well at Eurovision.
I've listened to a few songs from other Swedish artists now, Victor Leksell - Tappat was ace, as was Albin Johnsén – Livet börjar nu, and Tack För Idag by the same artist.
I feel like I am falling down a hole of Swedish pop and I'm not sure if I will get back out. I still have John Lundvik & Måns Zelmerlöw on my regular playlists from Eurovision, and a few of their other songs since & before their Eurovision time too.

You've fallen the Swedish pop rabbit hole, I am knee deep in British indie.
For example, Arctic Monkeys released their live album some ten minutes ago so, track one:
Arctic Monkeys - Four Out of Five (Live)
Also, you'll be pleased to know Danny Saucedo (his Swedish stuff will appeal to you, check him out) and Eric Saade (Manboy, Popular) are both entering the 2021 Melodifestivalen, as is Anton Ewald (Begging). Feels like we're aiming for a win again, first time in a bit. So 2021 could get exciting for Swedish ESC fans.

Oh good, I can be the "um actually" guy.
Um actually *pushes up glasses, snorts, brushes off cheeto dust* The Wellerman is a folk song, whereas shanties are more akin to a simple call-and-response work song.

Re: Whatcha listening 2 @ da moment?
Little known fact: it's actually a folk song based off this traditional sea shanty
Re: Whatcha listening 2 @ da moment?
Well, it's still an absurd thing that Gen Z concocted, and I'm all for it.

I saved a whole bunch of songs from this thread to my playlist on YouTube. I will listen and enjoy it in the evening. I'm not overjoyed with my JBL soundbar, thanks to which each song sounds completely different than through regular speakers.
