Bankrupt!

I can't believe it, I actually went bankrupt for the first
time ever.
I made a huge blunder with my initial transport routes
which were supposed to fund my continuing expansion.
I was playing the Sub-Arctic climate on medium difficulty.
It seems to pop all the towns on hills, yuck. Anyway I
decided to try for a few subsidies for a change (instead
of my default coal to power station set up). The first
couple of subsidies were passenger ones. Because of the
lack of space, I just made a single platform station
between the two towns with a train between them. Then it
offered me another one from one of the towns I had a
station to the next. So I simply connected the end of
the other station in the middle town to the new one. Then
I set off train number two. I planted signals each end of
the middle station so the trains would not crash into one
another. All was well I thought and left to plan the rest
of my transport empire.
My initial thought was just to have one train do the route
but was not sure if it would pick up both subsidies hence
train number 2.

Problem one. The trains only turn at end of line. I'd
completely forgot this. I'd got used to them turning at
stations cause I'd just been playing with easy lately.
So when either train got to the middle station. It would
wait for ages until it turned round its' self. Or when
the other train popped into the depot, then trapping the
other train for a long time.
Problem two. The trains kept choosing the depot not on
their own side (because I imagine that is the first one
they saw), causing more havoc.
So ratings dropped. No passengers, no money. Spent all my
money on building the network. Was constantly in the red,
after a few years, BANKRUPT!
Anybody else got such disaster stories to share.
Regards,
Steve.
