More development
The development of this game is almost dead.
Nothing happened.
The new Nichtlys are almost the same since release of 4.0.0
maybe we need ore developers to make some live in this game.
There is happening nothing.
in the officiall version of openttd

Re: More development
in the two weeks since the release of 0.4.0, nearly 80 commits were made, that is an average of 40 commits per week.Horse wrote:The development of this game is almost dead.

in the 15 weeks between releases of 0.3.6 and 0.4.0, 663 commits were made, with an average of 44 commits per week, so i can't really agree the development is almost dead...
(okay, i have to admit that in the 4 weeks between 0.3.5 and 0.3.6 on average 100 commits per week were made )
and also, only relativly stable versions of new features will be commited, so development is taking place on many new features, but just not yet stable enough to be comitted
Re: More development
How can you say that? 0.4.0.1 was released 11 days ago as rev. 2354. Currently we are at 2395, and great changes has been made, especially when it comes to grf-handling like the ability to use DBSETXL.Horse wrote:The development of this game is almost dead.

I love the way it's changing, almost from day to day!
Stop complaining and start to motivate the developers. They deserve it!

Because i,am not able to see this features.
I only see new possibilities patches new things.
And i,am waiting for that planes fly on realistic speed.
Some people with programming expiertience talk about it but i,am still waiting for a release of that
And we have wait a year for passenger destinations but we hear nothing even not of there will be soon a release of passenger destinations in nearby future.

So what you are asking for is:
Implement everything, no matter how much crashes it will produce?
What would you say if OpenTTD crashed on you every lets say 5 minutes, because the features are not yet stable?
That last aircraft-related patch for example could cause OpenTTD to crash.
If you really need new features then why dont you get one of those windows-binarys (if you are on windows) or patches (if on other system) and play with them, report bugs you find in the appropriate way and thread, and thus help those that wrote the feature in debugging it, so it can be committed in the future.
If you can code, then try to do so.
If you can't, then remember that all the devs do this in their spare time and don't receive money for it. (And theres commercial games that make less progress in a much longer time, especially if I think about a game called Duke Nukem Forever )

Re: More development
It's not like we reject developers, but they are hiding. It's not like we can go out and hire developers, they need to show up by themselves.Horse wrote:maybe we need ore developers to make some live in this game.

I think you've got the wrong attitude.Horse wrote:The development of this game is almost dead...
OTTD is, in my eyes, a very lively project. Remember that the developers do this for fun (hopefully), in their spare time.
If you feel things are missing, start studying the source and become a developer...

Re: More development
That is not quite what sourceforge says:Horse wrote:The development of this game is almost dead.
Activity Percentile (last week):99.94%
which basically means that OpenTTD has been more active than 99.94% of all the other projects on sourceforge during the last week, and beleive me, there are a heck of a lot of these...
Actually, that makes OpenTTD more active than famous projects such as:
OpenVPN (Virtual Private Network software)
TortoiseCVS (Source control software for windows)
eMule Plus (an eMule mod)
OGRE (Object oriented 3D engine)
VirtualDub (Video processing software)
Shareaza (Multi network P2P client)
Audacity (Audio processing software)
Miranda (Multi network Instant messager)
eMule morph (Another eMule mod)
EasyPHP (Apache, PHP, MySQL easy setup)
Bittorrent ++ (Bittorent client)
aMule (cross platform eMule mode)
Revconnect (DirectConnect network client)
and probably a lot of other impressive names. So it is my opinion, and that of sourceforge.net, that you are very wrong!

Not to mention that (unless im wrong) i dont see you programming anything for the game...
They're working for bigger goals which need more time. They're working on this that you wont see. Mostly stability, networking problems and crashes. Although, theres been heaps and heaps of talk about the airplane land speed, and no stable version has been implemented to the game, maybe in 0.4.1
