Aydan's Rendered Planes
Here you can express your wishes for planes to be rendered with PovRay.
They might or might not show up on the official plane set.
If you wish to see a special livery, just tell me. I'll see what I can do about it.
For now the goal is to replace the hand drawn planes with rendered ones.

My feelings on this:
The Planeset should certainly include Aydan's rendered planes for the aircraft that we couldn't get done very well by hand. These are:
1. Zeppelins
2. Osprey
3. Shorts
4. 747s
5. Antonov
I think, over time, we could include renderings of some of the others, which were drawn by hand and are OK but not great:
1. Ford Trimotor
2. DC-3
The rest are probably OK, but I don't have any major objection to replacing them with rendered versions AFTER the set has been released, and IF that's what most people want.
Basically, my position is that we HAVE to include at least some of the rendered aircraft because we couldn't get them drawn any other way, but we don't want to delay the release of the set until ALL the planes have been re-rendered. We've waited long enough for it... So no matter what, the release version will have to be a mix of some rendered, some not.

good ... however if you could tak second view on that ... notice that wings are too 'steppy?' (step/whatever) ... you need to shade wings as I did (compare to wing at yellow circle) .. try that ... the best on wings of the plane which goes straight upAydan wrote:I widened the wings about 20%
what are you looking at? it's a signature!
Aydan, all I can say is WOW! Awesome looking aircraft man. A few others in the set could use the rendering treatment as well. No offense to the original artists mind you, but I think the Concorde could also get the once-over looking at it. Also, if you're wanting accurate airline liveries as opposed to company colours, rendering is definitely the way to go.

The Planeset thread has a new complete set of realistic planes, not yet fully tested, but I don't think it includes these rendered 747s.
A 747 with the Shuttle on it? Interesting. Not necessarily useful, but interesting eye-candy.

Very interesting indeed.Prof. Frink wrote:You know what I'm thinking?
Have the shuttle carrier (loaded/unloaded) as a goods refit.
That would be one plane to rule them all...
External cargo pods for bulk goods sounds good. You could even have different ones. Not only the shuttle or a simple capsule. Is external cargo supported for planes?
Here's my first DC-3 w/o texturing yet.

Yes, it is. Any number of sprites sets may be used, divided evenly in the empty to full range. Optionally, a different group of sprites may be used while the plane is loading.Aydan wrote:External cargo pods for bulk goods sounds good. You could even have different ones. To get a good answer, ask a Smart Question. Similarly, if you want a bug fixed, write a Useful Bug Report. No TTDPatch crashlog? Then follow directions.

We can't add any more planes, we used all the slots.
