euro patch released

Post by strongbow »

get it here:

http://www.3dgamers.com/games/locomotion/downloads/

changes (nothing new really):

Chris Sawyer's Locomotion by Chris Sawyer - European retail v1.76 patch

Download Instructions

1. Click on the Locomotion v1.76 Patch link
2. When prompted, save it where you will be able to find it (use Desktop if you
are not familiar with directories)

Install Instructions

1. Locate the downloaded patch (LOCO_PATCH176_EURO.EXE) and double-click it
2. Follow the on-screen instructions.

File Details

- Tutorial 1 road vehicle failed to start at end of tutorial (only affected US
V4.02.168).
- Vehicles would occasionally overtake even if road wasn't clear (could also
cause 2 player game to go out of sync).
- Using scenario editor to generate large worlds with high number of large
cities resulted in industries failing to animate.
- Removing a broken-down power car from trains with multiple power cars could
leave train in permanently broken down state.
- Routing problems with trains approaching multiple-track stations.
- Entering blank name when setting station name caused crash.
- Ships and aircraft could be sold while broken down.
- Displaying town list or industry list window in scenario editor and then
generating new landscape could cause crash.
- "Please insert your CD" message not translated (German only).
- Trains wouldn't unload and load if breakdown on approach to station.
- Construction possible while quit confirmation window displayed and game
paused.
- Gridlock possible if both aircraft and helicopters used at large airport.
- Certain combinations of train vehicles could cause trains to be automatically
removed from track when train is reversed.
- Sea level option in scenario editor caused inconsistent results at values
over +28 - Fixed (now restricted to +28)

Wow, CS really outdid himself this time
The same patch as the US one about 3-4 months later? What does this guy think?

Yes and no, afaik CS is keeping an eye on Frontier's development. He's credited as game designer or so, so he can tell them they should change some things and so on. Or am I wrong?

The patch is probably very low down on Atari's list, and they likely didn't bother giving the patch to the translators for 4 months or something... who knows!

CS was one of the developers of Frontier (or more correctly Elite 2, it also had adverts for TTycoon in the spaceports) he was also in Elite 3 (First Encounters), most likely he'll be in Elite 4 but on one of Elite's creators sites it doesn't say much about CS or anything for that matter, but since its nothing to do with the topic I'll just stop

Blimey, I never knew that! Played these games on Amiga & PC years ago, eagerly awaiting Elite4 whilst playing X2. Have given up playing LoMo, I find the game boring without the subsidies.

Close enough to be a Developer in my opinion :D

I've been waiting for Elite 4 also, got bored then started making my own game based on the Elite Universe in PHP :D (atm you can fly around and crashing into stars trying to scoop fuel as the ports aren't working right yet), thou me and another guy are making it better while trying not to blow up a server (I managed to estimate my game can reaching 111Tbs in size using a excel document to work out the database size, thou have fixed the game to be 1Gb big now when finished)

From http://www.chrissawyer.com/info.htm:
Chris Sawyer wrote:Chris entered the games industry in 1983, writing games in Z80 machine code on the Memotech MTX home computer, and then the Amstrad CPC series home computer.
From 1988 to 1993, Chris specialized in PC conversions of Amiga games, and was involved in many well-known projects, including Virus (1989), Campaign (1992), Birds of Prey (1992), Dino Dini's Goal (1993), and Frontier Elite 2 (1993).
After that, there was TT, TT+WE, TTD, RCT, RCT2, and Loco. ;)

Lets see... 3 months for a translation of an already finished patch that really didnt fix anything important means.............. *thinks*................ carry the 1............. make sure to use the right decimal place................ *looks at the final calculation and almost gags on his drink*

Well if my calculations are correct¹, we should have an american patch in 23.6 years² with the Euro patch 2.3 years³ after that.

¹ They usually aren't.
² Give or take a few decades.
³ Hah. Yeah right.
