it looks buggy. The lines and the strings do not match. It should be fairly simple to fix through.

I like the idea.

Typ is spelled Type

But yeah i like the idea. Closed and open wagon type is kinda useless tho, should be more like

tenders/genetic | passangers | bulk freight
Alcohol is not the answer, it just makes you forget the question.

Why would you need a class for tenders? They come free with the engine!

There's an "all wagons" option right? Just like there should be a "all trains" option. Because this improved thing would actually make it require more clicks to get the train you wanted than the old method. Personally my philosophy is towards LESS clicks to do a task. And there are quite a few tasks in ttd that could be stream-lined.

Thnx for the replies :-)

@ thorrune: ups... that happens if the words sounds nearly the same in your mothertongue but different spelled *lol*

@moriaty: good idea to include an "all type" button. there is none till now. there is only the difference between passenger/mail and the rest because wagons don't have "classes". and i thought about more vehicles in the future (if newgrf and/or new grf engine is working) it's very annoying to scroll to the last wagon you'll need ;-) or the latest f.e. turbotrain a.s.o.
(and there is another idea... changing the sorting from the newest to the oldest engine....)

i hope if have some time on weekend to work on the patch.

my main goal is to get rid of the refiting option (for wagons) to show all freight wagons, but that would make the list in the plane view toooooooo loooooong ;-)

and just another idea.... what about to choose wagon by freight :?:
(would be a list like, passenger/mail, coal/ore, grain/livestock aso.)

cheers

That's doable, but it means that the function to draw the sprites needs to be recoded. Currently it's sorted by engine type

or it could be like selecting a cargo type and all the cars either carry that cargo type or is refitted to it. That way a player can also skip the refitting part when the train is done

Also have the dropdownlist in black and when the mouse is over it in white. It looks closer to all other dropdown boxes there are :)

Tree View

Post by MHTransport »

Firstly I would like my most recently purchased vehicle of that class at the top of the list. Or just flag the item with a green icon to make it stand out.

I would prefer a tree layout that automatically collapses when you expand another one.
+ engines
| + stream
| | = kirby xx
| | = ginzu xx * <- most recent
| + diesel
+ wagons

Click on diesel...
+ engines
| + stream
| + diesel
| = whatsit xx
+ wagons
A better OS: http://ubuntu.com/

And whatever it ends up like, it should definatly remember the last settings that it was on. I wouldn't want to have to go and select electric loco's every time i load the trrain menu because it decides to reset to steam loco's.

I actually like this idea :) Altough OpenTTD was not really written with this in mind, and would surely take time to get up and running it is more inituitive. The dropdown lists are usually used for sorting.

short update with picture...
remembers now the last build vehicle. matrix is shown correctly, and for darkvater the color is now the same as in every dropdownbox :-P
next goal is sorting and "automatic" refiting.
by the way i need nice categories for the wagon selection.

and i'm not going to make a tree view ;-)

i hope i have more time next week.

Although this is looking very, very good, i'm afraid the wagon selector is little bit pointless due to lack of working sets with wagons. Nevertheless, you are making very good work!
