Change the roads?
You want to use road vehicles as trams?
You can't couple more road vehilces to 1 'train', can you?

And then all roads would have tram tracks.

in TTD Patch, you can't add new things, you can only replace... The thing you suggested would work, but at the you would have to sacrifise the roads themselves

...which is why I decided to replace the maglev/monorail in my game to allow for trams to run around!
But the idea of having trams running on roads isn't bad at all! Not sure how it would work though, but since the road set has two different graphics, (one for cities and one for the country side), perhaps with some engineering it could be possible to allow for trams running on at least city roads!
Still, I have to admit it sounds a bit too complicated - apart from the fact that I don't think it's possible to do so! If it was, then it wouldn't have been a problem keeping both the maglev and the monorail in the game when the electrified railway became a reality!
Nah, for the time being I believe the only possible way to introduce trams is to sacrifice the maglev/monorail - or perhaps the un-electrified railway!

I could live without the Maglev/Monorail

Really? i never knew (!) but i must admit either roads or maglev? Id keep maglev (for the dbsetxl) and do the roads up!
