As I´ve written SOMEWHERE else:

. I currently don´t miss the newgrf support, cause I never played The Patch (hence I didn´t know about it). Another thing I like OpenTTD for is that it´s very portable, extensible, open-source, it has many fans already... Too few arguments, Patchers?
Btw: both of those polls have a wrongly spelled subject ("Whitch is better..." vs. "Whitch is better?").

TTD Patch, becuse I have all my supercomplex saves since 199x in TTDP readable format. Just a matter of changing the configfile, depending on how old technics that is used.
OTTD was to difficult to install. OTTD breaks save file compabilty to often. (did before at least)
just my thoghts.

How is OTTD dificult to install?
Tell it the path of youre TTD instalation, and the path for it to install in, and klick install

I downladed the sourcre. Compiled it. No problem. But extracting the right data files from an existing TTDP Instalation is not that easy. At least It wasent with the documentation of OTTD 0.3.
Im using Gentoo Linux. And XP is gone.

oh, right
You gotta have the ones named trhXr.grf (All of thoce) and sample.cat, and put them in the OTTD data directory.

Indeed, I am waiting to see what improvements can be done to OTTD, which has a lot of good features, but right now the one winning is TTDpatch

OpenTTD for me.. at the moment, though my views are subject to change if someone will convince me how the TTDP is better!
