[TTDP/OTTD] Ameecher's Screenshots
Re: [TTDP/OTTD] Ameecher's Shots [BRITISH STATIONS: Unreleas
An interesting comparison of how things have changed from these two shots:
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... 0#p1019500
You can compare yourselves. The main station has been reduced in size as more services have switched to the suburban network. The focussing of railfreight onto 2 routes rather than multiple ones has allowed the entrances to the freight yard to be rationalised and more room for development although planned service increases could mess this up!
One future proposal is for a new combined station on the site of the junction in the centre of the screen serving Dortmund and Neu Westerhorst with a possible High Speed line and all terminating services. This would close the current Dortmund station with onward connections by suburban railway.

I wouldn't call it madness, I'd call it insanity, and Beautiful Insanity at that. I love it Sir.

Well the aforementioned plan to build a new main station for Neu Westerhorst/Dortmund got going. First the steel mill traffic was relocated to another mill and then local services began to use the new terminus. At this point, the S-bahn continued to serve Neu Westerhorst South and Annexe but these two stations would close soon.
And after a few years of operation and the final station design. The old Dortmund HBf was located on the site of the park in the top right of the picture. Bit of a change!
Re: [TTDP/OTTD] Ameecher's Shots [BRITISH STATIONS: Unreleas
No, No, No, your not doing it right! You should be destroying half of the City for a 10 Platform HS Station and 6 Track HS Line!
Very Good really, Ameecher, keep at it please!

Limbruck where a Passenger train overhauls a freight train as it crosses onto the slow lines to access the freight yard at Stuttgart.
Freihaven with the aforementioned freight yard.
Neu Urhorst.

Brunsbach, a major junction on the network.
Stuttgart in earlier times, just after the completion of the elevated S-bahn.

I like these very much Ameecher. Also, is New Urhorst part of British Stations or another GRF?

Re: [TTDP/OTTD] Ameecher's Shots [BRITISH STATIONS: Unreleas
Inspirational stuff!
I love the mixed freighter at Limbruck, although what's the purpose of two stations so close together? Is the second one an S-Bahn type setup?
Freihaven is awesome, such an impressive scene in such a tight spot. I reckon you'll suffer in coming years with congestion, but that's life! Makes the game more interesting to play!
Neu Urhurst is another great scene, I especially like the single track leading off into the hills! I reckon you'll have congestion issues here too, but that just adds to the realism and the joy of the game. What a great scene, I wouldn't change it at all!
The spiral is quite impressive, I always struggle to make mine look realistic - they either take up too much room, require too much land to be altered, or they are too tight!
I like Stuttgart, although I feel it is missing the buffer tiles! I realise it's not possible to have buffers under a "hall", but still... I guess when you get used to seeing something, it doesn't seem right to... not? If that makes sense?

Re: [TTDP/OTTD] Ameecher's Shots [BRITISH STATIONS: Unreleas
Almost can't tell it's holidays with all these screenshots appearing.
Cheers, Limbruck is the terminus of the Stuttgart S-bahn, what's not obvious from that screenshot is there is a town just off shot at the right, Albhausen rings a bell for that one, it's actually a very small network, the other edge of that town is visible in the left of the screenshot of Stuttgart. Very short little system, just built the stations early to promote growth.
Freihaven definitely has the potential to bite me in the backside. However, there is a lot of capacity left there at the minute, I even had the forethought to build the freight bypass quite early so as to avoid big lumbering freights blocking the fasts and the mains to get to cross into the yard.
Freihaven is the terminus of the other branch of the Stuttgart S-bahn, you can see Hildeshaven in the shot of Stuttgart main station.
As for Neu Urhorst, that really will bite me in the proverbials later. I've already added a line from the bottom of the screenshot so there are now 3 bridges leading into that end of the station. Haven't really extended the line the other side of the tunnel though, currently just a factory and one town on the other side but plans are afoot to break the idyllicness (is that a word?).
The spiral was quite fortuitous, I like to build them if I can but the terrain generator really gifted that one to me. A few little tweaks to provide a fairly even climb and then some more to double track it all 30 years later. I think in terms of future nightmares Brunsbach will be the biggest, currently I have expresses which go down the spiral, switch ends in the station (go to Brunsbach (No loading)) then head out along the plains route to the right. I'll have to find a better way of doing that as the station is getting rather busy now.
And finally, Stuttgart itself, I can't have a nice trainshed then have a drafty concourse. It would be nice to have buffer tiles with a roof but I did put a trainshed over the far right platforms! that's the closests to a compromise I can manage I'm afraid!

Re: [TTDP/OTTD] Ameecher's Shots [BRITISH STATIONS: Unreleas
Looks like it has the potential for major cock-ups when traffic increases. Especially running 7lenght trains through 5 tile long stations hardly ever works for me, even if I analyze the station before for all kind of potential places it could go wrong.Ameecher wrote:Brunsbach, a major junction on the network.
Nice screenies though, as usual.
