Uploading all my blends will just be such a mission. I try to use high quality texture images and some of my blends huge. I live in Africa, lions elephants and bad internet connections.

The stuff I make for OpenTTD is free to be released and used in any kind of "pack" for OpenTTD. I have never stated that it is GPL, so this serves as the license for it to be used without sources.

excellent!

so is that public domain, or some sort of CC-BY-?? thing?

Not providing the sources means it can't be used in a GPL licensed pack of 32bpp graphics and as such it's useless for this project unless they change the license to something else and ask everyone to agree on that but... that means that inclusion of 32bpp graphics into Linux distributions becomes harder and thus adoption of 32bpp (in) OpenTTD.
Lord Aro wrote:so is that public domain, or some sort of CC-BY-?? thing?
It's neither as his license doesn't tell anything about the distribution of the graphics, just that you can use the without having the sources. Even then "public domain" is something that's US specific concept, so he can likely not release it under "public domain". He can license it with a public domain imitating license such as CC0 or WTFPL, but he hasn't explicitly done so.

Yep, the content needs to be GPL'ed or GPL compatible for it to be included in the replacement set.

£$%^&*!!!

i'll pm him again (it was me who made him post in the first place) and see if he can do something about it

@Jupix: does that mean if the license on the repo is set to something other than GPL it isn't included in the nightly packs?

j0rdax can still release his work under GPL and state that he will send a CD with his sources on request*. GPL doesn't mean the sources needs to be available all the time, it just would be perfect, but excluding someone because he has bad internet isn't very communitish either. Just be sure, you don't lose track... :-)

Nope, there are no licensing requirements for the nightlies. As you know, my nightlies != official replacement set.

I doubt that. GPL is viral, i.e. if it's a component of something there the complete thing must be GPL as well unless the components are licensed under a second license that isn't viral, and if you aren't given a license to distribute the files you may not even distribute them. So the fact that people upload it for distribution can be seen as a license, not sure whether it's legally clear enough though. Nevertheless, it's an implicit license requirement.

From http://www.gnu.org/licenses/old-licenses/gpl-2.0.html:
In addition, mere aggregation of another work not based on the Program with the Program (or with a work based on the Program) on a volume of a storage or distribution medium does not bring the other work under the scope of this License.
So the aggregration of GPL components with other licences components, does not need to be GPL-ed. It just needs to pass the conditions of GPL of the components. IMHO, tarring a pack with GPL parts is an agregation, not a derivation. But, I am not a lawyer.

I guess I will have to find a way of making the sources available then. Gotto work on my current models first though.

I have updated the file with airports.

I have a question: It's posible to replace only two sprites of the 15 extra sprites used by OpenTTD?
http://wiki.ttdpatch.net/tiki-index.php?page=Action5

I need to replace the two tiles with grass, because I'm developing the GRF tiles without lines.

To quote FooBar from my big gui thread:
Correct. You can only set bit 7 for types 14 to 16. So there's no other way than including all other sprites of the type as well.
I recall me asking to have that available for the other types as well, maybe now is the time to implement it :)
I have started a thread about it, though it hasn't got much attention...

Thanks. It's something that I need, because I want to replace only the two sprites with grass.

For the moment, I will wait until this change is done.

These files are the crossings for dessert.

Maybe It could be useful to add some simple signals, because They are placed in desert.

I have finished the road sprites of the bridges and the front sides (maybe there are some mask sprites with blue color). For the moment, I don't want to finish the rail and monorail bridges, because I don't have z2 railway sprites. Also, the pillars will be coded when all pillar patches are finished and included in trunk.

I am looking into splitting up the road trucks: http://jupix.info/openttd/gfxdev-repo/i ... ile&id=159
I am wondering how to do so. Split them up into generations (1st 2nd 3rd) or each cargo?
Thoughts?

One entry per truck. May seem excessive but in principle it needs to be like that...

some of the truck's mask sprites (according to windows) have a pink background, instead of white, like most of them
i suspect this may be a palette problem, but i don't currently have the facilities to fix it
how do i fix it, if possible/necessary?

+ some trucks share the same unloaded sprite, what should i do about this?

A tech expert is gonna have to answer the former, GeekToo or maquinista perhaps?

For the latter, though: if the "empty" sprite is shared over multiple trucks, make it into a separate entry (named correspondingly). Including the source of course. The truck entries which would otherwise contain this content should then point out in the notes that the empty graphic can be found in a separate entry because it's shared.
