I made some athletic fields to go in middle of the running track.
Sport fields 4.png

Probable need sets to go both directions and some with athletes playing.

AFL and cricket field technically to wide to fit in center, but for the fun of playing openTTD does it really matter if I still make some sporting fields to fit, even when they don't in real?

If all like these atheltic fields I done so far, I will code these into Auz Sport Objects and then start making other sporting fields and try make what I can to fit inside the running tracks.

Could do something like that, but my idea is make all the pieces so players can design their own. Make separate grand stands, benches, fences, lighting and other additions that I find. Just hope I not have to make a set of grand-stands from the rear view as it takes away the nice.

The grand stands and benches I did before I want to adjust those and place fences with advertising in front of them and make other fences so can go around the sporting field and another fence to go around the whole complex. What images I looked at on internet of different sporting fields.. they have either a wire mesh or wooden type fence around the playing field and another type fence to go around the whole lot to stop outsiders looking in.

I'll finish the sporting fields first and look at stadiums later.

Cheers all

I separated the actual roads from the object roads for those who don't want both.

AuzQT65CarRacing .. roads provided by Quast65 and I provided the Spectator stands and coding.

It has 2 roads .. Race Track and Pit Lanes. You can use Funny Cars and any other roads set that has vehicles you want to race. Maybe you like truck racing. Not sure if any sets have motorbikes.

It also has some grand stands and seating with overlap starting grids and finish lines.

EDIT:

Forgot to mention if you think of anything that could be added to these let me know and see what we can do.

Auz Sport Objects.

As mentioned above .. the actual roads that you can use Road Vehicles on been removed and placed in the new set in the last post above.

This Aus Sport Objects had the object roads but no cars.

There are 3 sections so far.
Auz: Car Racing
Auz: Spectators
Auz: Athletics

This sample of the Athletic track and field

The corners have 4 sets, 2 sets for each direction. 1 each of those sets has the "pole vault". All have lighting.
In the middle of the track are some separate objects, Long Jump, High Jump, Javelin, Shot Put and discus/hammer throwing. These can be place any way you wish inside or outside the track.

Can you think of any other athletic event I could include?

What I hope to do:
* Move the sporting events in AuzTownObjects into this set. I mentioned this several days or so ago and no one has objected to the move.
* I hope put the golf in its own menu since there is a lot of objects for that.
* Add fences
* Add more sport fields

This set will change a lot so hope it not upset to many games you have running with these and AuzTownObjects.

Cheers

I re-making the grandstands as have some wrong.

The bottom set of seats I have almost ground level, but all grand stands I seen .. the bottom set of seats is still high enough so people sitting there get a good view and people walking past don't block their view.

So I cam up with this design.

They be 2x1 sizes and some will also be 2 decks high.

They not in use yet. Still in the drawing stage.

Will add spectators and also some advertising boards along the front. If I charge enough for the advertising it might help pay the the building of the grandstands. :D

I have a image of Lang Park of the stadium and some of the seating that not under cover. Hope to try make those as well. Some on a curve .. no idea if I be able to do curved seating. Shall see what happens.

This looks really nice.

Will you also make circular stands or similar for use in corners and with the cricket fields?

Glad you like it.

making corner stands not going to be easy, but I will give them a try. Probably use these types of designs also based on Lang Park.

The worse ones to do will be those facing backwards. I think I not do any stadiums and grand stands from behind. But will try make some based on these in the image.

Tomorrows another day so shall see what I can do then.

For now I be saying good night all.

Now to work on the open air seating as shown in image last post.

You can try these and the other grand stands if like but you reminded more to come. Hope have some open air ones done within the next 24 hours so can use on weekend when most sports are played. :D

Those fans packing the stands are not following social distancing protocols! There's no way they're six feet apart. More like...a pixel or two?

Jokes aside, I saw a review of a new TramSim game where simulated pedestrians wear masks. I wonder how COVID will become part of popular culture, including video games, films, books, etc. I have no desire to be reminded of the pandemic; OpenTTD is where I go to forget the troubles of the real world!

The stadiums look great. I don't really play with eye candy in my games but I always enjoy reading your thread to see your creations.

I not sure what a pixel equals to in real measurement. I usually base a 1x1 tile to be 50 meters by 50 meters as normall a railway carriage is between 20 and 25 meters and 2 fit to a tile. A tile is 32 pixels by 32 pixels. So that makes a pixel between 1.25 and 1.5 meters. :D

Once upon a time (now for a bedtime story), if we walked into a bank or some other business with a mask on they would think we going to rob the place and probably shot us. So does that now mean if we want to rob a bank we leave our masks off.

Wondering some these stadiums and sporting fields could be used another way besides eye candy. With Industries allowing so many business and cargoes now, the playing fields might make good Industries and the stadiums make them station-non-tracks.

As OpenTTD has been certified as virus-free, social distancing protocols are just a mere courtesy that one pixelated denizen shows towards another, not because of a mandate. Truth be told, they loved to be packed together like sardines in a can. It's the coziness of OpenTTD society that makes it lovable and visited by millions. ;)

Most of the sport ovals that I and others have made are 2x3 or 3x3 it kind of made the 2x1 stadiums a bit odd looking. Wondering if I should change my sporting ovals so they either 2x4 or 3x4 so things will look nicer.

See if I can do the corners before bed time and might get this uploaded some time tomorrow is all goes well.

Just found out I will not have power tomorrow (Saturday from 6 am to 6 pm). So be no working on my projects.

So you might as well have a try at what I been doing to date.

You will find the grand stands, stadium and the open air seating under "Auz: Spectators".

Don't think I be able to make any curved corner pieces, I had a try and been unsuccessful. I should still be able to make something to go in the corners, but that not be till Sunday or later.

My To-Do_List:
* Transfer other sporting objects from AuzTownObjects to this new set AuzSportObjects.
* Make a fence to go around the outside of the sporting fields and the spectators.
* Looking at idea change size of sporting fields from 2x3 to 2x4 and 3x3 to 3x4 so that the stadiums, grandstands and seating will fit better.

But all that will have to wait till next week.

Cheers all

Hello my name is Dekhengst.

I can only say fantastic work. I love the stands very much as well the other auzie stuff.

A couple of weeks ago I made my own stadium out of many other newgrf. With a lot help from the Auz objects. Many thanks & credits to creators

As you can see the corners are not perfect even as some seats (with grass under underneath).

I like to use your full stands for the first TT World cup :D

So if any have idea's of questions, please be welcome.

(Maybe this is not the right topic, but because it's now all about sports I give it a try.)
