the amount of images wouldnt effect the game play, but i recon the size of an image does, cause at present a everysquare is 2 carages/engines long, so its easy to calculate weather a train will suitable for a station, but with the new graphics being all different sizes, its gunna be more trail and error, or just a good estimate or something

I seem to have some block that prevents gif images from moving, so I am afraid I can't see what you have done. Could you post pictures of the different stages?

It doesn't. I've been playing UK Renewal on my server for ages. Almost all the early train wagons are 5/8 of a tile long, so it's hard to guess how long they should be, but the depot window actually gives you the train length in half-tiles, not wagons!

Also, image amount might affect gameplay as more images means more sprites in memory.

A problem I have with the things I make is that they look too clean. Take this grain hopper I did today. There are no signs of it ever being used. Can someone who knows how to handle photoshop or gimp give me some hints about what I can do to make it look more used?

If you do figure out how to make them dirty, please don't lose the clean ones! Trains should definitely start life looking lovely and new.

But don't you think it looks a bit boring when it is just one solid colour? Like the yellow one in the above picture.

in max, to make it dirty and break up the sheets, i would just applie a bump map, unless it was modeeled in.

Looks great.

I have been looking around on this site.

Should I use the uv map to create the bump map, or do I need to create a new texture to use as a bump map?

um...well in max (so not shroe if its the same), you could use either, but the image wouldnt do much....would probly be best to use a monocrome image of some mondrian style artwork just to get an array of intersecting shapes

Well, it said "21th century" before, but I've changed it now.

Does any one no, with trees, do they need modeeling, or are they going to have single sprites that stay the same from all angles, and therefore can just be drawn...?

I think at least some of the trees has been taken care of, but how there were done I don't know.
