+1

I too would like an update with more stuff and such but some people have to relize that Pikka is just one man. Not only does he run NARS2 but he does most of the stuff for UKRS 2 on his own (aside from community contributions). Put on top of that the fact that everyone has a life to live, trying to manage two big popular projects by your self gets pretty hard

Autoreplace coaches, perhaps?
http://wiki.openttd.org/Replace_vehicles#Autoreplace
For trains you may also toggle between replacing engines and wagons by clicking the Replacing: Engines button shown.
That doesn't work because I'm trying to replace the vehicle with the same vehicle of an updated model (heavyweight coach vs lightweight coach). This is also a pain for some diesels when you want to upgrade.

The next update to this set will involve rewriting the set to the UKRS2 standard, and removing dud features (regearing, generational locos, and probably the different liveries for different players). I don't know how much I'll be wanting to add, to begin with.
Even that has very little chance of happening in the next 12 months, unless you people want to pay my bills. Sorry.

Hmm, what is the license for NARS? If it's amenable to collaboration, I've been pondering an NML extension or potentially even recode...

The graphics are mostly by DanMacK, you'd have to talk to him.

But I love the different liveries! Perhaps they could be livery refits instead? (with different companies defaulting to different liveries)

I would LOVE to see this happen!

NARS is my runaway favorite, thanks to the variety and level of detail in the GRFs. Being able to select the gear ratios on the diesel-electrics is an outstanding piece of detail that pushes the level or realism (and play enjoyment) beyond mere eye candy. Four-unit sets of EMD F-units with 65:12 gearing to pull a 16-tile length train of iron ore jennies is simply awesome, and allows a level of gameplay that blows away even the excellent UKRS and DBset.
There are a couple of quirks that are annoying, however, such as a menu flooded with dozens of obsolete locomotive and car (wagon) types, even when "persistent engines" is turned off. Is there some type of parameter I am missing here?

You need a 'donate' button. See how much people really value this stuff
Or...get a Kickstarter project
http://www.kickstarter.com
I would donate, because, eh, why not?
But the admin on a kickstarter is a hassle, have to register an account and stuff

Do you have a totaliser? We need some kind of fundraiser
"Help Pikka complete TaI, then revamp NARS 2: total needed $xyz | total raised $abc"

After a search around the forum I'm guessing this is the best place to ask my parameters question.
Basically I don't think I'm understanding how to enter parameters correctly. What I'm trying to accomplish is to have the whole set available on the tropic map. On default most of the electric trains are missing from tropic.
I tried to set the parameters on the newGFR screen, based on the wiki page.
Now I'm assuming 0= default.
My first attempt comes out with 0 7 0 0 0 0. This seemed to result in nothing changed. Yes I did click "apply changes" and tried to start a new game with it.
Then I thought perhaps 0 is not needed or confuses something and put a single parameter "7." This resulted in most of the trains becoming unavailable.
I'm at a loss here. Any help?
I will also note that in the gfr parameters window the parameters are listed 1-6 rather than 0-5 like on the wiki page. I don't know if that is relevant.

If you think this is possible, you are misunderstanding the grf parameter descriptions.

I am just going by what I see from the GRF parameters wiki.
http://users.tt-forums.net/pikka/wiki/i ... Parameters
Shown for parameter "1" on the page under the "function" column.
climates the set is used in; add the numbers together
And at the bottom under the example:
So, for example, 1 7 3 6 0 2 would result in the running sounds being disabled, the grf available in all climates, player 1 with livery 4, the Canadian version activated and maglev on monorail track, no safeguards deactivated, and km/h in the refitting texts.
Based on this I came to the understanding that a value of 7 on parameter 2 would enable the set in all climates.

Parameter 2 only enables what climates the set itself will load in, not which vehicles will load. Vehicles are programmed to only be available in certain dates and certain climates.
Here is a list of all vehicles and notes on date and climate restrictions:

i think what pikka means is "the set is available" is something different from "every engine is available"
