FWIW I'd personally like the buildings most (I fell in love with them when seeing them the first time, long before I knew anything about OpenTTD), but Purno's work would be just as cool as that (as long as the railroad signs are made larger, I think they are too tiny now).

I like the idea of a water tower. I will see if I can fit it in somehow.

But I also finally got clear about the arches, and didn't think it was such a bad idea, so I had a go.

I'm not sure about it being grey, though. It might blend in with other colors in the surroundings too much (if it's in a city, for example).

Perhaps having them company colored would be better, I don't know.

Also, these doesn't fit in the early steam powered era, imo.

The checkpoint looks great, but I don't think it's really realistic. What if this thing is being built in reality: What is its use?

I was planning on adding a small house with some wires leading to the arch... at large stations, with lots of tracks running side by side, these things are quite common to hang the powerlines in, instead of simple pillars.

Sorry... I don't know the proper English word for them.

With powerlines in it, they are useful, but what for non-electrified tracks?

Doesn't matter, I understand what you mean (I think  )

Yeah, that's why I said I wanted to try to make a water tower as well...

...oh, but you mean mono rails and mag lev...

...well, if you company color the thing, put a small gadgety box next to it and connect a few wires onto the arch, perhaps it could be a general power switch thingmabob?

Yeah, uh... checkpoints suck anyway.

Your graphics are pretty accurate.. even before I read the discription of your graphics, I understood what it was. Nice try btw

I think these graphics are not bad for rail..

but it's probably another story for maglev and monorail..

I am sticking to the idea of having a sort of arrow or a rectangle with your company colour in the middle of the rail/monorail/maglev track. It is easy to make and easy to notice. :P

That checkpoint is really nice! :)

Maybe stripe a bit of the company colors on and it's perfect :D

Id rather see something that last from when the game begins to the end.

They didn't always have electrfied tracks, yer'know.

Well, since the game cannot start earlier than 1920, then yes, they did always have electrified tracks, from the point of view of the game.

Oh yes that is right. In that case, there's no way you can find one single graphic that will work for 200 years. For that matter, the rails themselves would change over time at least somewhat. I'd say that over-girder would work from around 1900 - 1960. Before 1900 it would not be so solid, it would be maybe Victorian cast-iron; after 1960 it would be smaller because made out of more modern materials and not needing to be so clunky.

Id like to have every single loco in OTTD, or would that make it too rrtish?

Still though, I don't understand why we cant use signal boxes, since they go everywhere, even in the middle of nowhere.
etc.

Code: Select all

signal============signalbox==============signal
--s------------------------------b---------------------------------s
- = track
= = semapohore control wires or electric wires

it would be in the middle so the cables are not too long.
of course the middle could be anywhere.

Well, that's my opinion too, but it doesn't seem to be shared by everyone.

It looks like there is a little hope for democratic decision here, so I think ludde should have a final say at this point ;-).

SImple, Have an option to build both, Or find a set task that the signal boxes could fill, then have it a seperate build option.

Or just make a button in the config menu to turn them off.

A decision has been made: We will use eobet's arch!

There will certainly be some people who don't like this choice, but it is simply impossible to satisfy everyone. We've had a lot of different opinions among the developers as well. Maybe you'll be able to change the graphics with an enhanced newgrf in the future.

Expect the graphics to be included in the next release if everything goes smoothly.
