Re: Swedish Projects
Both those rail sets you point out make not use of the overlay capability as now present for rail types; thus they will look strange on terrain which they are not designed for, e.g. when using not the TTD proprietary base set like 2/3 of OpenTTD players seem to do meanwhile.

Re: Swedish Projects
I do agree that yarrs and csRailset has some nice rails closly to what I had in mind. This is ofcourse something I just started and I'm unsure if they are really needed.AndersI wrote:Do we really need another rail set? I think the ones in yarrs - http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... ilit=yarrs or csRailset - http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?p=380792#p380792 are good enough. Especially the tunnels of csRailset.
One idea I had was to make more snow covered rails like the roads I had planned and while I did that I thought it would be nice to make some new rails overall.

Re: Swedish Projects
If you use the rail types feature the ground is no concern, even and especially with snow transition which so far is not ideal with any base sprites. Making a "simple" track replacement (without speed limits etc) should be moderately straight forward, especially as you could borrow much of the code from nutracks.Irwe wrote:I do agree that yarrs and csRailset has some nice rails closly to what I had in mind. Re: Swedish Projects
If using the rail types feature I don't have to make the ground like with building, right? If so is this all that is needed? (except crossovers, tunnels, bridges etc).planetmaker wrote:If you use the rail types feature the ground is no concern, even and especially with snow transition which so far is not ideal with any base sprites. Oops I forgot the slopes, I drew them but didn't include them in the picture. Does this work for roads aswell?DJ Nekkid wrote:you need:

Re: Swedish Projects
That's OTTD only, right? I'm more interested in things that work in both TTDP and OTTD. But each to his own...planetmaker wrote:Both those rail sets you point out make not use of the overlay capability as now present for rail types;
Re: Swedish Projects
I think it's for OpenTTD only, but if the demands are high I could always make the rails for each ground to. It's not hard it's just time consuming but like I said I could do it. It's nice if new grfs could reach everybody.AndersI wrote:That's OTTD only, right? I'm more interested in things that work in both TTDP and OTTD. Re: Swedish Projects
Possibly, I didn't follow the TTDP changlog too closely. Still it's easy to make it work for TTDP in the traditional way, if the rail sprites exist.AndersI wrote:That's OTTD only, right? Re: Swedish Projects
Please do make this rail set happen. The yarrs and csRailset both look quite ugly in my eyes. This looks more decent
My Scenarios:
Archipiélago Hermoso (Latest Release: Version 3.2)
Turnpike Falls (Latest Release: Version 0.91)
Re: Swedish Projects
I probably will do since I already started on it. I also started on making it for TTPpatch with ground sprites and started on tunnels. The tunnel is actually just the original tunnel but modified a bit to look less natural.Chrill wrote:Please do make this rail set happen. The yarrs and csRailset both look quite ugly in my eyes. Thanks, but like I said they really just are the original tunnels with a little toutch! Will be making support for OpenGFX too.planetmaker wrote:Those tunnels look awesome!

Re: Swedish Projects
I played a bit around. Here's the normal rail sprites simply replaced ingame, not using the overlay feature. The overlay for junctions are still missing a replacement (there overlay has always been used) as are missing tunnels.

I didn't know you had to include them. I didn't see them anywhere in the original TTD set of sprites but I might have missed themplanetmaker wrote:I played a bit around. Oh, misunderstanding here, I think.Irwe wrote:I didn't know you had to include them. I meant that I hadn't encoded those yet. From what I see I do have all sprites I need for those rails except one set: the snowy version which are base set sprites 1037 - 1062 (see http://mz.openttdcoop.org/opengfx/autho ... ogfx1_base careful, large site!)
If you don't mind, I created a small repo at our devzone where I pushed what I did so far: http://dev.openttdcoop.org/projects/swedishrails
If you're fine with it, I'll continue with what I have. It should be moderately easy to get some first version done somewhat soon.
EDIT: attached working newgrf with actionA sprite replacement (no railtypes yet)

They look good ingame but we have some problems with some junctions. Also the junctions ground probably have to be a little bit more brownish to fit the rest of the track.

Re: Swedish Projects
Tiny update with temperate tunnels and some alignment improvements (doh, I only now recalled the ease of the sprite picker tool ingame):

Re: Swedish Projects
@ Irwe - maybe you can offer it to use it as one of tracks in NuTracks?

Re: Swedish Projects
Do you want to publish a swedish base set for OpenTTD some time?
Cause there are Swedish:
rails
houses
vehicles
trains
...
Are there many players from Sweden?
