TTDPatch is more than simple patches...
Download the code and look into it.

The code under /patches is already 478 KB text uncompiled !

Not enough memory? But do towns log data without TTDPatch?

remember , there are no space for everything ... that's why there cannot be more ships than now, etc ... some things cannot be added because of memory ... ask Oskar, Marcin or Josef

I'll take it as read that it can't be done then. I still don't understand though - maybe that's something for next year's A-Level Computing course to tell me!

I get it know - no room within the confines of the existing program. I didn't know that was the way it worked. You learn something new every day.

Is it possible (If someone made the graphics) to have a different depot for electric track (like a modern day depot), with the old style depot for non-electric track? I imagine we can, as the monorail track has it's own depot...

I've downloaded it but, as I suspected, I can't understand a lot of it...
too bad, if programming was simpler everyone could help, now it's only the ones who understand, you 3... (out of 5000 or so)

well probably no, because el.rails are just normal tracks but slighty tweaked (added pylons and wires, it is not replacing graphic)

As far as I'm aware it indeed replaces bits of the code by enhanced code, all within the 'natural' limits of TTD.
That's exactly right. The biggest problem with the "difficult" or "impossible" changes is that you can't do this. You either have to change hundreds of little places, (and then worry about the two that you missed), or thousands of places. It's just not feasible to either try and find them all, and then make sure that your changes work well with each of them.

If I may offer an analogy, it's like rewriting a book. If you want to change Harry Potter to Henry Potter, you only do a global search and replace, and then perhaps worry about the few places which contain a pun that may not work with Henry but did work with Harry. That's "easy".

On the other hand, changing it to Sally Potter isn't going to be easy, because you need to find all the gender references and all declinations, and then find the things only guys would do and replace them with things girls would do, and all other kinds of things like relationships that have to be changed... That's "difficult".

Now try changing it to Gandalf Potter or Harry Poppins or Lao-Tse Potter, and you'll find you need to rewrite the whole book from scratch. That's "impossible".

thats a very good way to explain it

I got one for renaming file extensions

It is like putting a new cover over a different book like putting HP on top of a Sim City Manual

The manual does not Become Harry Potter

Thanks Josef, that makes it really easy to understand. So, If we apply that to the idea of underground stations, then it is impossible, because it is essentially a "new" type of tunnel (ie "Gandalf Potter")

How is this relevant?

I think the industry limit for the map is fixed (can't be changed). Why not stop at industrys on slopes? Why not have HQ's, radio thingies, lighthouses etc on slopes? If it is possible for something like roads and stations, why not large buildings?

the industrie limit is 90 (or 60 in some cases? :? ) 90 as far as i know is not byte related

255 or 65535 sound more like unchangeable numbers

Lets wait for a patchmakers reply

New Suggestion ( )

Increase the sign limit it is 40 i think at the moment of typing this

I had this game (scenario) where i was planting down loads of signs (to name industries and transmitters after forum members and/or contributers to the patch/TTD) and then it told me there was too many signs
