Last 3 for now...

Picture 13: We come down from the hills around Oranienheim and we pass under the coal tracks, then up into the station at Flensberg.

Picture 14: We speed along, the power station is over on the right. The station was recently overhauled to a Ro-Ro type of station to improve traffic-flow. Profits have increased by 30% since then!

Picture 15: And we approach the town of Kiesheim, with the Hauptbahnhof situated to the north-west of the town, surrounded by the hills.

I started playing OpenTTD properly, and what a place to start. a randomly generated map, Largest scale, and 7 competitors, all fast and extra smart (so the map can be filled up a bit quicker  )

Heres 3 quick screenies. 2 of the map view of parts of my network, and a picture of my HQ island i made for fun! :D

Im also curious how you got those new trains into OpenTTD. i cant get them to work for some reason :?

You need the right GRFs -- the DBset for example, but there are more --, and include them in the config file. :D Not all sets work flawlessly, mind you, but looking around the forum will help you figure out which ones you can safely use.

Open the Config File and at the bottom add:

Code: Select all

[newgrf]
firstset.grf
secondest.grf
thirdset.grf
Hope this helps Geo!

Jumper, all im using is the DBSetXL.
Edit: Im using r2390 if that helps

Heres 9 more...

From the companies starting city, Herzdorf, the company has built a new line that goes to Nestheim in the east. Actually, there are 2 new lines, the newest is the high-speed one that goes through Frankfurt, our one, and the other is used by Inter-Regio's which take a slower and more curving route.

So we hop aboard the Inter-City BR120 to Nestheim calling only at Frankfurt.

Picture 16: Our train rolls into the station and we hop aboard. The first class coaches are at the back as usual, away from the engine noise, and we sit down in our private lounge area.

Picture 17: Heres the junction seen in all the stories so far, the coal line is up above us as we take the left route rather than the customary right hand route which heads towards Munchen.

Picture 18: And we glide into Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof not long after. Frankfurt is a bigger city than Herzdorf and the company is willing to bet the station will see an overhaul in the near future, plans to expand it to 8 track are also in the hat.

next 3...

Picture 19: Straight after Frankfurt we shoot straight into the hills and we follow the valley floor for a good long while.

Picture 20: We exit the hills after a long time and we have a small(ish) lake on our left with woodland on our right.

Picture 21: Not long after, we turn the corner and we arrive brusquely at Stralsfurt where we continue without stopping.

last 3 for now...

Picture 22: This is a big split here, all 3 lines come from Nestheim, the top one is where we've come from, the left hand one is the slower route going towards Dortmund, then it goes north and joins up with the line coming from Kiesheim, yes i know another route from Kiesheim to Herzdorf! Lastly, the bottom one is the entrance to an under construction line to the towns of Waldwald, Osnastadt & Hersberg, and from there there'll probably be a new line going to Kiesheim!

Picture 23: We zoom gracefully striaght throught the station at Unterbrucken, the train not decelerating once.

Picture 24: And we arrive at Nestheim, everyone gets off and we head to go grab a bight to eat whilst the train goes back up to Herzdorf on the return working. We were slightly delayed as there was an Inter-Regio train slowly traversing the entire station approach, it was heading to Dortmund then up to Herzdorf.

PS Ill post a map of my network in a sec.

Hi I like to post some pics too, here's the firtst one (my own HQ island)[/img] . The second pic is my busiest factory (making 5000/10000 goods a month). The next pic shows my current project, a four track maglev rail with every (big) city of this 1024*1024 map connected.

8 pictures in this series.

The next journey again starts at Herzdorf! This time though, were booked on the cross map ICE train to Bremen. This IS a cross-map journey!

Picture 25: Herzdorf Hbf, hasnt changed over the years. Our train comes in and we go into out prebooked privtae cabin as usual.

Picture 26: Frankfurt still hasnt had its makeover yet. The line north leads to Kelheim, not much interest up there, mainly Regio and RegioExpress stuff.

Picture 27: We pass an IC train on its hourly service between Nestheim and Herzdorf.

next 3...

Picture 28: Well this is where the new line starts. We branch off to the left and head into a loooooooong tunnel that leads directly into the brand new ICE station/airport complex.

Picture 29: This is that new complex, the Hbf is just visible in the bttom left corner.

Picture 30: We zoom past at top speed, the town of Anderhausen sitting quietly on our left.

last 2:

Picture 31: We pass throught the tunnel underneath the quaint town of Rottfurt. The town will hopefully have a service running from Nestheim to Bremen on normal train in the near future.

Picture 32: Bremen ICE station at last..., the journey across the map was fast, comfortable and fairly cheap, the customers are going to love that!

Aren't those ICE's a bit small, I use trains which are 20 long though
(see my maglev pic on the bottom of the previous page)
