The point of the parameter is if you want to use the wagons from this grf with another train grf.
And very useful it will be too :)

Oh yes, that. So, for example, UKRS2 can be used to supplement a trainset such as the ToE-generic or the Tropic Refurbishment set with a nice selection of ECS/FIRS compatible wagons, without the unwanted UK locomotives getting in the way. It seems the "Small selection" of locomotives goes well with the Tropic set, as it really fills some gaps (combined with the normal wagon set to give it ECS/FIRS compatibility)

I like that you advocate mixing your set with others, unlike some certain NewGRF authors :P

This update is mostly behind-the-scenes work on updating to GRFv8, and adding a number of new parameters which I hope people will play around with and report bugs with. :) There are a few new vehicles added too; it's getting very close to being ready for a 1.0 RC!

28/02/12 - pb 0.1.0:
  • Updated to GRF v8.
  • Added single livery parameter.
  • Added locomotive and wagon selection parameters, for players who want a smaller (or larger) set of vehicles.
  • Recoded the Metro Cammell DMU as a normal multiple unit.
  • Added 0-6-0 Freight and 4-4-0 Shire, BR Class 321 and BR Class 325, and BR Type HA.
  • Added the EE GT3, GWR Railmotor, NER EE1 and NER EF1 from the add-on grf.
Because of the new parameter settings, and because one vehicle (the Metro Cammell DMU) is now coded very differently, you will need to manually re-activate the GRF if you want to use it in an existing game.

As always see the wiki for more detailed information. Enjoy!
how does the single livery parameter work?? is it done with a variable or just what year you start at??

There is one selected livery for each vehicle (for example, the HST will always appear in the early InterCity livery).

Because this version is incompatible with the earlier alphas (due to the new parameters and the recoding of one MU), you'll have to manually replace the old GRF with this one in your grf list; it won't automatically update to the newer one like usual.

Given that this is GRFv8, this shouldn't even work on OpenTTD 1.1.5. Use 1.2.0-RC1 instead.
Your OpenTTD 1.1.5 probably finds an older version you have sitting around. Try again in 1.2.0-RC1, in a new game (try starting in 2050 with vehicles never expire set to on). And just to make sure, it's not a bad idea to move any older version of this grf outside the OpenTTD search folders.

I would like to thank the developers for this update. UKRS is my Favourite Rail Grf.

I would like to ask when can I get the updated version from the Content Download section?

Perhaps this is because the class 70 isn't in this version? Both the diesel and electric 70's are due for the add-on set I'm sure :).

Got the UK track set in your newgrf list? I haven't checked, but I think I need it to make the third rail engines appear in-game (this might be 100% wrong btw).

When Rubidium fixes it so the upload works. :)

Indeed, jonnie47, there is no Class 70 in the GRF and I don't know why you think there is. Andy, a grf providing 3rd rail tracks is required for the 3rd rail vehicles, but not necessarily my UK Tracks (which are only really meant as a stopgap) - the Metro Track Set and NutRacks should work too, for example.

Thank you Pikabird and all the other contributors for the latest release, I thoroughly look forward to playing with the updated set :)
I was wondering if anyone had thought of making a class 390 or a class 350/450/360/desiro city to give a little more selection in the 2000s

I was actually thinking of doing a 390, I think it would be tricky to do justice to the shape which is why I've not drawn thus far and would rather see a better artist have a go at it (if we have any volunteers)! Anyway, this is talk for the additional content thread, we should continue there

Just noticed the sneaky addition to your wiki there! :D

This is already a brilliant set...and it's just going to get better!

Also the 'Bidwell Tripworker'. Not sure what that is. It's (almost) a Googlewhack, but I'm sure it's something else too. I'm guessing it's fictional but I'm wondering what gap it fills that isn't already filled.

It is fictional and will probably be a replacement for the Class 92, a Overhead and 3rd Rail Electric Loco.
