You could connect the coal mine at the top to the massive coal-drop-off at the bottom using the irregular stations.
Then you could make it MUCH more efficient.

A similar idea occured to me as soon as I groked the possibilities of irregular stations. Here's my take on the same notion, but designed for higher volumes of traffic, with turnarounds that don't interfere with mainline through-traffic from the opposite direction.
