I edited Foobars setup for the little signalboards a bit, so it might look better in the OTTD perspective (also made the pole shorter)
How does this look? I decided not to use the grey backviews, as platforms could be approached by either side and therefor on the backside there is also the same signalboard.
I feel it is a bit too busy...

They are just way to big, which make s them look miss placed i think?

Okay, how's this
?

EDIT: change the color of the pixel in the centre, is this even better?

That's better. I'd put them on the edge of the tile though (overlapping), so that there's only one sign between the tracks instead of two. In that case the bigger version is probably better...
The blue signs at the very begining of a platform don't make much sense. If a train were to stop there, there's no platform for the passengers to get out! Or alternatively only trains with length 0 would stop there

Should'nt they be in the real middle of tracks, so at tile-borders?

Good points, moved them to center! Regarding the signs at the very beginning of the platform, is this better (and makes it more sense)?

I think we think more of this one:

Edit:
You could
look if there is another stationtile next to this, otherwise it will this "one side sign"...

I'm not sure about that, especially because the signs are so small. The grey one is not very recognisable as a sign.
I think I will stick to them being placed in the middle of the tile, it looks best to me and is easiest to code for me (I'm not that good at it). Alterations are off course always welcome, it will be GPLv2-licensed.
Any more/other suggestions for stuff that can make that green grass more interesting?
And I made some little waypoints, "dwergsein"-style. Red is constantly on for backside views. Front views have a blinking yellow on the right, indicating "pass through with caution":

Those dwarfsignals may actually be nice for the track set, for the yard track type. Then they can be functional as well!

Not really useful for waypoints, I like foorbar's idea. Is it possible to have different signals depending on tracktype?
I think some green Relais boxes/houses would be nice

I think it would be really nice to have in the trackset. Only thing I worry about a bit is how to display which signal it is (block/entry/exit/combi/two-way path/one-way path).
jor[D]1 wrote:Is it possible to have different signals depending on tracktype?
From the 1.3.0-Beta1 changelog: - Feature: [NewGRF] Customisable signals for rail types (r24367)
So it is not yet possible in stable releases, but the nightlies and beta it is possible.

You could do that by changing the color of the little board under the sign (the yellow stripe). I know that on real Dutch tracks there are no different colors under it, but I think that is the only way to keep them apart.
By the way, the signal itself is a part of Purno's AHOB's. Sprites (GPL) can be found here:

I agree, you mean these that you posted earlier in another thread?
http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php? ... e#p1001173 and are those green signs always next to them?
I'll look into that.
I like less obvious waypoints, especially when you have many tracks next to each other. Having a lot of big buildings next to each other in the middle of nowhere doesn't look that good sometimes (especially when using all separate waypoints).
Are there other types of signals/signs that are frequently seen between tracks (especially at switching points) that could be used as waypoints?
EDIT: I think "snelheidsborden" (speedsigns) might be the way to go. And that explains the green sign next to the relais box

Indeed that picture, I knew I posted it somewhere but was unable to find it.
There always is a "verkennings bord" (with the Bigs S) before stations.
Also WUBO's are quite common along the track. They are a kind of signal, but not used by the trains.
I also think a waypoint, which extends the platform is nice.

Aren't WUBO's warning signals for the safety/proper funcitoning of bridges and tunnels? Meaning if they flash there bridge or tunnel ahead is unsafe to cross?

No, that's a different kind of signal.

Quick question about the yellow and green speedsigns (can't remember seeing them in real life), how big are they?
Same size as roadsigns (voorrangsbord) or smaller?

I found an additional Dutch source, Purno:
http://www.ovnet.nl/?h=begrip&m=begrip&b=wubo wrote:WUBO

About the same as the blue signs. So an average roadsigns is ok.
You forgot one speed signs, the white square one.
The green triangle isn't placed along new tracks anymore.

The WUBO is nice as waypoint, having it flash when the track is occupied by PBS.

Thats something I sadly not can do. My codingskills are not that good. It would need animation/PBS-awareness, which I don't know how to code. Help is off course appreciated!! (in NFO please)
@Hyro: no translation needed
EDIT: These are coded now...
