The Township of Holzhaven, the town stretches across a peninsula and it dominated by the Hauptbahnhof, a massive 10 track station. The left 4 platforms are reserved for fast expresses only. The next 4 are for a mixture of Local Traffic and S-Bahn trains. The two split off just after the station throat. Lastly, the top 2 are for the H-P-C-NH Bahn which serves the towns of Holzhaven, Potsdam, Cloppenmund and Neu Hahnmunster. Just emerging from the top bridge is one of the H-P-C-NH Bahns fleet of 4, VT-08 diesel DMU's. The consists are 6 cars in length and have a maximum speed of 120kph.

I wanted to build a 4x4 junction with some load-balancing in it... this is what resulted.
It still needs some work, though...

You have too much time on your hands.

Also if you were to move some things also above ground (bridges), and use less wide turns you could make that a good bit smaller.

Hi everybody,
I often have problems with large two-ways-stations, because there isnt't enough space to reverse the track.
I found a sollution to optimate the station traffic.
Maybe someone else can use it.

Dextro: if you disable 90°-Turns: No. I don't disable them, because I love cmplicate, tight junktions, and for theese, I need 90°-turns.
In this game, I just tried my new station sytem with faster trains because the save I developed this system is somewhen around '80. Result: the faster the trains, the less you need theese two tunnels per line.
The save I made the screenshot is a right old save. When I built the tracks I had neither any experience about two way stations nor two way railroads, so (as you can see at the Screenshot) it's almost chaotic. Today I built a few industries to test the new station.
Enough words, here is the save. Enjoy it, Boss!

You should try using presignals... they'll seriously improve your station efficiency when it gets busy.

Hi everyone, this is my first post, so please nevermind some OT at the start

)) I`ve been looking through some of my oldest files, and I stumbled upon TTD

) I looked in net for a win version and I found out that there were so many changes going on in the game... SO I decided to try it out. Here the screens from my first game... OpenTTD latest (not nightly build)
I have noticed that there aren`t many screens of stations, located in cities(if not at all). So I decided my first theme will be city stations

Mainly, as you see in the screen, there are 3 stations, which actually count as one (thanks to the OpenTTD

) so their spread covers practically all of the city... at least the part, that I was suppressing when I developed it

And to save some space for the buildings the stations are one level below the city... all rails go into tunnels (which you can clearly see at the station in the bottom right of the first screen

which come out in the vicinity... This station is a Ro-Ro, right now it services about 30 mammoth trains (my favourite feature in OTTD) hence the 12 square length

) I hope you like this

Oh, BTW, you should start viewing the creens from the bottom

) Didn`t know they were uploading the other way around

It looks more like it's just another tracktype with road graphics.
But it looks good anyhow

It is actually, just third rail type. I wrote a quick little somthing up for ttdpatch that allows normal trains to drive on the third rail, but it isnt quite the same as real trams/city rail. As I stated before, if anyone is interested in taking this idea furthur in OTTD, give me a PM, and I'll provide assistance wherever possible.
Weee. Glad people like my sprites

I tried to work out, for my needs, best workable city:
- bus stations serviced < 20 days
- Bus stations spread by acceptance area in the centre of the city, in the suburbs just "random" stations
- Bus service makes a spiral into the city
- etc.
But still I can't get it to the size of some supercities I saw (+40/+50k (no editing of course), so any advices are welcome.

if you want big cities for this kind of climate:
- make passenger service in the city and between the cities
- deliver goods (a lot)
- build a grid of roads with 2x2 free space in each grid so the city can expand
... i manage to get 50k city by 1970 (on 128x128 map) and then it stoped developing because there was no space on the map (i had 2 cities only) so i reserved ALL the land around it
