That silo on the picture was just an example. When I was drawing this one, I was using a different picture. I'll look for it. BTW, here are some other examples, as you can see, they vary in shapes...
I veto your usage of international examples in pictures. Unfortunately I know nothing about freight wagons, and searching for Dutch examples at railfaneurope didn't result in any findings. Bah. My knownledge really lacks on freight wagons. I've seen them. I know roughly how they look like. I will recognize them from a picture. But I just don't know their codes or whatever company uses them to perform a proper search around the interwebs.

Either way, *please* try to use Dutch examples first. :cry:

I'm probably a bit late with this, however;

The Veolia livery misses it's Veolia logo at the front (1x) and sides (3x). Additionally the roof seems to be lighter gray in the pictures I find (could be because those show new trains and aren't weathered yet). And the white paint/stickers don't go as high up the roof as the Arriva livery. I doubt you can see the white paint/stickers at the other side of the train when looking up at the roof.

And, oddly, all liveries seem to missing the 3rd headlight. I guess I overlooked that when drawing the original sprites. :tongue:

Those veolia issues are probably my bad :P

And it's never too late to improve sprites!

I also updated the wiki to link to the latest nightly of v2. :)

I will change them to grey. About the logo, i'm afraid that for the front side it looks like a third back light... And for the side's i don't think it wouldn't be visible as a logo.

Anyway, i can add them and see how it looks and post it here.

Front logo, perhaps, though it's a slightly darker red. Side logos should be large enough for a few red pixels. Several trains in the set have a NS logo of 2 pixels :mrgreen:

Now I remembered something about those silo wagons!

Currently, there are NONE in Holland. I've send those to FooBar to be included as futuristic.

This can be done, good idea!

Unpossible! Or well, I've seen something which at least looks like silo cars. Are you sure there's no actual silo cars in the Netherlands?

Unveto! I guess they'll be fine as futuristic ones.

On a side note, I like it if there's minor color variations in cargo wagons, as IRL, none of them has the exact same color. I did this with quite a few of my own sprites for cargo wagons with only very minor color changes. Personally, I <3 it. Gives a tad more work though. See below example;

I think I've seen things like these in the Netherlands;

That dude got more pics of Silo stuff in the Netherlands (not all of them, but quite a few).

As future wagon everything is acceptable IMO. And it doesn't need to be based on real life at all.

As for silo wagons at this moment we often have a lot of these: http://karow900.startbilder.de/name/ein ... wagen.html
Same type of thing Purno has found.

For pictures of cargo wagons in general, this is a nice page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/remcowagonnetje/
With location of photograph and exact name and number of the wagon and everything.

I veto. :P

Sorry, I'm not really helpful on those cargo wagons :P I'm more familiar with passenger trains. :P

And I couldn't find any! :x Well, when I'm wrong, I'm seriously wrong. :bow:

BTW, people sometimes confuse these silo wagons with modern self-discharger hoppers. They're not the same, not even close. Silos are fully watertight, more like tankers, and are designed for "sensible" cargos like cement or lime or grain. The only similarity is that both have self-discharging equipment (read: holes) at the bottom of their hold.

EDIT: Thank you both for additional data and pics! They will be VERY helpful. In any case, I'll finish those pax/mail wagons first. :wink:

So far, most Silo wagons I see are more round than hoppers. Is that a general rule-of-thumb I could use?

Not necessarily but 99% true. Anything specifically designed for i.e. cement or lime should fall into the "silo" category.

EDIT: They are still a little bit sloped at the bottom so the cargo can slide out easily.

What kinda cargos do these silo things carry, apart from the above-mentioned cement and lime?

Any bulk cargo that is i.e. susceptible to water...

Grain, cereals, coffee beans, flour, seeds... stuff like that.

EDIT: rice, animal feed, sugar

EDIT: This is also a silo wagon, older and smaller version but truly Dutch!
