Your more then welcome to draw that ramp for me
Even send you the sprite to draw it in. Need to fit in those coloured squares and be 16 pixels high. Just 2 views be enough .. one can have the ground entrance facing South East and Enrance to car park North West. The other can have the entrances on ground South West and car park level North East.
Quast65 wrote:Would the idea then be that you can connect an actual road that runs over the raised land to those parkingplatforms? If so, you cant build the T-crossing (or an X-crossing for that matter) towards that
I think I keep them at the height they are. But if players like, the set of car parks I have in the Object sets can be changed and made lower with multi-story parks with and without shops. They might look good if the second floor same height as those above stations and see if can make them join one another.
Anyway .. let me finish the 2 stations sets and get them released then I will work more on these car parks and other ideas later.

Could something like this work? (Dont mind the colors

It will need a nice way to make the 2-lane road 1-lane, but it might work.... You will need to place at least two of those ofcourse (1 to go up, 1 to go down)
The bottom ring should be full concrete, the upper rings could then stay like this, showing parts of the road inside.
I also think I should be able to draw it in such a way that one of the upper rings ends at the outer end of the parkingplatformtile and another with the upper ring ending at the start of the parkingplatformtile (so you dont have to change the current design of the parkingplatforms) and I also think I should be able to come up with versions that could go at the other sides of the tracks (so the back end)...

We have spiral ramps here in the US, I think that might work

Just come across this, looking good.
I'd love to see some of the grander stations added, like Melbournes
Southern Cross, in some sort of modular format so can mix size/length.
I'd love to visit Australia one day, will probably be going to Melbourne, for some reason I just find it more appealing there, also they have
these trains which i love for some reason, even though i've never used one obviously...

Very interesting .. I think might work well. Maybe one less spiral may work ok too.
Where you have it joining the road maybe entrance could become 2 lanes for cars turning on or the road into their respective lanes before merging to a single lane.

To my knowledge there is only a few Car Parks above stations in Sydney, not sure about other states and don't thing they have spirals. But I have seen spiral going into multi story car parks near stations and in the cities.

Eventually like to do some of the grander stations too .. but they be a while .. will finish the 4 projects I working on first and intend to make a 5th set with grander buildings.
Thanks to the lessons Quast65 sent me this morning I started working on 2x1 station buildings. The Grenfell Station is now a 2x1 tile .. no need to joint the pieces like in previous issues.
Made this station to day .. it based on a station called Coonamble. It is a terminal station north of Dubbo NSW.

Will work on more over the weekend.

Here's the latest Parts 1 and 2 of the Station Sets.
Coonamble Station been added.
Add City Platforms (the ones with the white line edgings) now have brick facings instead of the timber look.
All platforms should not have catenary poles sticking up on their edges.
Fixed a few graphic errors I had with a few platforms (some where back to front).
Be warned .. these might not be compatible with previous releases and the set that I releasing on Bananas which hope to later next week.
If you find any errors please let me know .. I try to check every thing but might have missed something.

How does this design look? (Dont mind the colors too much, I think it would be better with white-ish concrete, but wanted to show this first

)

Either the parkingplatforms should get a better looking link-up to the fences of the spiral-ramp, or the spiral-ramp should get fencing like the platforms (that would be better I think), but that can be done later.
Would like to know first what you think of the general design

The join to the roads being 2 lanes solves the road connection issue.

Yep, just obstruct a problem from view and it will solve itself

Didn't get any thing done today .. I have Polymyalgia Rheumatica .. causes pain in shoulders and neck and low back, so unable to sit at computer much today .. hope back in action tomorrow.

No prob .. As soon as able to I will get the Station sets finished. I think if just add some footbridges now .. should be enough to release them on bananas. The Fantasy Stations have some plans for those and look forward to adding more to it.

Yep. Should work well.

Having a few health problems so not much will be done for a few days or so.
Managed to work on a idea for a footbridge and come up with this.

Old style that would have been around 100 years or so ago. Way before they invented white hand rails and fences for footbridges.
Cheers

Painted the bridge a grey colour. Suppose to be rust proof paint so hope the paint doesn't rust.
The previous dark coloured looked ok .. but hard to see on the dark platforms.

- footbridge2.png (5.06 KiB) Viewed 8802 times
This also has the bits and pieces needed to build the bridge .. with slight modification should be able to build a bridge of any length.

The stairs that are not attached to any platforms can be found with the Island Platforms.

Made more Station Footbridges and Waypoint Footbridges.

- footbridge4.png (47.94 KiB) Viewed 8646 times
The stairs now go all 4 directions.
In Image 1st 4 on the 4 railway tracks are Waypoints.
Next is combination of Waypoints, Island Platform and non-track tile footbridge.
Top is Single Sided Platforms and waypoints. Unfortunately as can be seen, they don't join properly as shows the fence from the platform set. This minor problem is something we will have to put up with.
Bottom 2 are Island Platforms with non-track tiles .. as can be seen stairs go in several directions.
You can also make a footbridge waypoint with no stairs, and used the non-track tiles at each end.

Thinking of making some changes to the footbridges.
Many stations in real the foot bridge is at the end of the platforms with the supports off the end of the platforms like these pics.
They way I did them I had to do 5 sets .. 1 for each style of platform I did.
If I adopt this end of platform idea this will free up some ID slots and allow me to make a modern style footbridges similar to the top pic.
This will delay me releasing on Banana .. but they say good things come to those who wait.
Cheers all

Haven't done those footbridges at end of the platforms like I mentioned. Running short of room with Part 2 so I do the buffer stops first and then see what room is left.

- buffers1.png (32.42 KiB) Viewed 8478 times
Done Buffer Stops for the Gravel Platforms, Asphalt Platforms and City Asphalt Platforms (sample of last lot shown above).
Still do Buffer Stops for City Tile Platforms and Goods Platforms.
Will not be doing any for the platforms that are half gravel and half asphalt .. the buffers I did so far will be sufficient for those.
Changes made:
New fences on Footbridge stair ways
Buffer Stops being added.
One set of Waypoint Footbridges removed .. the ones that went over just one track.
If you want to try what I done to date
WARNING: NEW VERSIONS MIGHT CONFLICT WITH PREVIOUS SAVED GAMES.

Finished all the Buffer Stops. Just might change design of some .. depends what people think.

- buffers2.png (57.36 KiB) Viewed 8434 times
There are buffer stops that go with the Goods Wooden Platforms as well as the Passenger Platforms. Also a set of stand alone buffer stops with out and platforms.
The change I thinking of .. Wondering if change the buffer stops with gravel platform to also have the platform at the end and ramp like I done for the Bitumen Platform?
Some changes
I renamed all Asphalt to Bitumen as that is what they call it in Australia.
If every one is happy with what been done to date and no problems found I hope to release on Banana by the weekend.
Both Part 1 and 2 zipped up together in this file for those who like to play around with it.

I really like the variety in buildings and colours, I can see it would be fun to play with the set.
Wondering if change the buffer stops with gravel platform to also have the platform at the end and ramp like I done for the Bitumen Platform?
I always wondered why those ramps exist. Likely it is intended that one can walk off the platform that way, but it just looks very inconvenient to me, as it's by definition at the end of the platform. A more logical place to me is an exit near the center, like next to one of the buildings.
As such, I fail to see why you'd want a ramp next to a buffer stop, one shouldn't walk there I think, it seems a bit unsafe.

I always wondered why those ramps exist.
In many country stations the signal box is usually found on the platform and it only controller signals and points on main lines and crossing loops.
The ramp at end of platforms made it easier for station staff to access the yard for shunting and yard maintenance. Station staff was responsible for cleaning the switches (points) and signals where lit by kerosene and had to change the kerosene lamps once a week.
If train had to enter a siding. The train be brought to a stand at home signal, Station master or who ever in charge of shunting would obtain a special key to operate the points to the sidings and he would walk down to the train and ride the train past the signal to where shunting is to commence.
Also on single lines if a train was to enter in to a crossing loop to cross another train the train would be in procession of a token for authority to travel from one station to the next. Station Master or signalman would have to go get the token off the driver and when ready for train to depart, go give token to the driver.
The ramp at end of buffer stop only seen this on a few stations .. to allow easier access for freight, parcels and mail to be loaded in the vans that be in the dock. Some just the platform at end and acted as a loading platform .. tracks back up to this if could back up to the door of wagons.
This is the next station I be adding called Cobar.
