Wouldn't it be an idea to also supply the zoom-sprites in a scaled-down version such that they can be used without a zoom-level patch? It would also give the possibility then to possibly combine them into some kind of 32bpp replacement grf... - but only, if they became available as non-zoom versions.

I said, Im using the standard regular zoom levels package, I dont really like using patched binaries\patches as they always end up being old\for older nightly's. I did get the a regular unpatched openttd build to work with 32 bpp stuff, but that was months ago

Well, Im not part of the 32bpp Development team, but, I think the idea of making 32bpp sprites would be awesome, not only would it allow more colours in sprites, it would allow for more detail, though a 32bpp version of the 8bpp openGFX set would be nice, pixel style sprites but with 32bpp colour :) Someone should do that, though it would require a tar and a grf (the tar for the sprites and the grf for the sprite place holders and data for the vehicles\buildings\industries)

You can install the official OpenTTD and the 32bpp extra zoom levels in different folders.

There isn't a 32bpp Development team. I only try to code the graphics that peoples make. Also, I try give helps to make better graphics.

Everyone can scake down the courrent 32 bpp graphics, because It can be done with GIMP or Photoshop and PNG codec. The tar file can be made with 7 zip.

well, thats not the problem Im having, the problem is that none of the 32 bit stuff from the regular zoom level package will load, even with default graphics and no new grfs on. I am using the latest nightlies for openttd (32bit for Win XP) I really don't see why its not loading, like I said in my first post, i have it in my data folder where openttd was installed, but its not loading, not even the GUI (If there is a 32bit gui in the pack, last time I checked there was)

Silly question.
You did remember to turn on the 32bpp blitter, didn't you.

Nope, in my config I have "Blitter = 32bpp-optimized"
I dont think I would be that stupid to forget that, as I went through the wiki to see how to activate 32bpp files in openttd

I did everything I was suppose to and no 32bit stuff is loading :(

@NekoMaster, what version?

Edit: always use latest nightly for development on anything.

I almost always use the latest nightly, i dont think anyone really uses the old pre 0.6.x Stables (the nightlies before 32bit support was added)
Right now Im using Nightly r17412

Edit : No More worries, I finally got it to work, though I noticed theres still A LOT of stuff to be done :?

Well, can i please have an idiot-proof installing manual for this? I'll explain my problem: first, i download the latest precompileed binary and put it in a folder i call OpenTTD extra zoom. Then i DL the 50mb ( ) zoom graphics pack and put it into data folder. After that, i copy all those sample.cat and tr1.grf thingys that are requierd to play, and put them into data. Then i open the cfg, set sprite cache at 128 and blitter to 32bpp_optimized. Then i start the openttd.exe and get a error message saying: Failed to select requested blitter 32bpp_optimized, does it exist?
What should i do to make this work?

Thanks. :)

Please fix it in the wiki, where you found it written incorrectly.

since the last time, many new graphics have been made.
buildings ,trucks,busses and planes.
i think it can be useful to integrate them in a new pack.

Okay I have a problem. I downloaded the newest nightly build from the openttd site, and i downloaded the mega pack with zoom (50mb version) from this topic put the tar file in the data folder, and in the openttd.cfg i set the sprite_cache_size to 64, and I start my openttd with a shortcut with the parameters -b 32bpp-optimized.
The problem now is that I can't see any changes in openttd... none...
I use Win7 Pro 64bit.
Anything that I forgot to make?

You must get the modified binary package to support the extra zoomed graphics.

You mean the "precompiled binaries by GeekToo."?
I used that, and didn't change a thing... :(
