Russia - Asiapart

Post by Jim Powers »

TT-forums Family;

For those who wanted "Russia - Asiapart", this scenario is almost finished.
This is in the Artic mode with vast tuntra land, high mountains and plenty of
resources in coal, lumber, oil and gold. there are very few cities, so plan
carefully how to get those products to 'market' and make a profit. Also
beautiful rivers run throughout the map to lakes and seas.It's either a
railroad man's dream, or his worst nightmare! Plan on spending some
quality time making a transport system, whether it be trucking or by rails.
Of course, we can't ignore those waiting passengers and mail, can we?:roll:

Have some TTD top-notch fun and excitement when we very soon will
present to you "Russia-Asiapart"!

Meanwhile, here's screenies.

Always,
Jim Powers

Now, does anyone have a tool to combine these two scenarios into one, 9x8 openTTD scenario?

That would really rule.

Mr. Relix;

I'm sorry but I don't know how to show you my grf files. I know how to
bring up cfg files only. See, I'm just a 'regular'. I wish I was a 'Pro. BTW
the roads are not new, Mr. Michael Blunck will be able to help you.
He, for sure, is one of those 'envied' genius pros. Thanks for your interest.
And, Mr. Blunck, thanks for your many, many valuable contribution to all of

Jim,

Look in your TTD directory for the ,cfg files, there should be one that specifies all the settings for the patch itself (It is very well commented, so editing it by hand is quite easy), and another file that specifies the new graphics in use.

The two files are:
ttdpatch.cfg
newgrf(w).cfg

I put the brackets around the w because in the DOS version of TTD and the Patch, it is just newgrf.cfg as apposed to newgrfw.cfg.

From the sound of things though, you are using the Windows version with the TTDX Configurator program. And if that is the case, the config files will lose all their comments in them.

Have fun

-Aegir

EDIT: Just listing your newgrfw.cfg in a post will do the trick, a lot of people here will recognize things just by their filename.

Mr. Aegir;

Thanks for the help, Sir. I am using the TTX Configurator and also now have
the Windows version. When you say 'comments', what's that, Sir? :?

The blue parts are the comments ttdpatch puts in the ttdpatch.cfg file.
The configurator removes them.
(my comments are in Dutch btw)

// `aiboost' (-A) verhoogt de AI-recursie met deze waarde.
aiboost 0

// `autorenew' (-Xa) vervangt voertuigen automatisch dit aantal maanden nadat ze `zeer oud' worden. Bereik -128 - +127, standaard is -6.
autorenew -96

// `bribe' (-Xb) voegt de optie `bribe' (omkopen) toe aan stadsmenu's.

Rob demonstrated it quite well, but to expand a bit onto it, comments are lines of text used in configuration files, and also in programming, to write short notes, be they instructions, notes, or warnings. These are not read by the program, and are pretty much ignored by the computer. But, humans read these instead.

For the purposes of the TTDPatch config files, ones generated by TTDPatch anyway (The TTDX Configurator program removes these to make the file size smaller), the commented lines are instructions and notes on how the individual switches work.

While we're at it, can someone tell me how to switch back and forth between
Windows and theTTD Editor without going out of TTD Editor? Is this possible?

Again, thanks for any helpful suggestions!

Heh, wrong file, the one that people wanted to see was the newgrfw.cfg.

Also, if you want to get back to windows or whatever, you can make TTD run in a window (Not fullscreen), then you can get to start, etc. Or, you might be able to use Alt+tab to swap between applications that are running.

Im not exactly sure though, I got rid of Windows :P.

Mr. Aegir;

Thanks for getting back to me, Sir. Now you said

Well Jim..

Since you now have the windows version of TTD, there is a TTconfig.exe in your TTD folder (the thing with the green fish). Open that, go to display and just see what option that suits you best :wink:

The tab button is the button over the caps lock button, atleast on my keyboard.
If not, it is the button with two umm.. arrows on it, and a | in front of them
