Let me take a very wild guess at the problem: Echon changed the plane speed while the game was running without saving/loading the game. The NewGRF adjusts the running cost based on the plane speed, which it reads via actionD code (and maybe used action6, but not necessary). Since ActionD (and action6) are only executed when a NewGRF is loaded (so at game start or when loading a savegame) av8 had no chance to notice the change in the plane speed variable and couldn't adjust for it. A proper test would require starting to new games with all the same settings except for the running cost.

Yes, Yexo is right. I tried out the different speed settings without saving or loading.

Yes, a lot of the off-direction sprites are unpolished, or in a few cases (like this one) even the wrong livery. Those sprites should never be seen; you're using a non-standard version of OpenTTD and that airport.

Perhaps because 1.0.3 is really old? The last stable version is 1.1.3, get it from
openttd.org

The warning probably tells you what's wrong. Unfortunately I cannot read whatever language that is. When making screenshots for bugreports or problems it's useful to switch to English right quick before making the screenshot.
