Not too shabby I must say! But it does look odd seeing steam again after playing my 2050ish game for so long.

1) 1940s view of Cheadle station. Absolute chaos.

2) 1960s view of the station (bit of change in stock and some OHLE).

3) Cheadle east station and the 4 track line to the south of the station.

- British Railways, 2nd May 1963#6.png (214.12 KiB) Viewed 2276 times
Edit: I realise that none of the new stock that I spent £3m on in shot 2 is visible... what a shame.

Good god, you've finally flipped! Nice station setup in shot 3 with the car park between the platforms.

This has been covered a number of times before, I am testing the British Stations Set by mph. It is not yet released.

If you have to I spose I can let you use the idea
It was originally a pair of parallel tracks reaching the junction on the same side of the line then I built the flyover that diverted the up track away from the down so that when I built this station I had no idea what to use to fill the gap so I bunged some car parks in!

What station se...
Just kidding. Interesting how you sometimes get random station designs by accident! Continue!

1960s and 70s saw massive cost cutting procedures with a move to entire withdrawal of steam and introduction of electric trains on more routes. Cheadle got a revamp at the end of the 60s culminating in a refurbishment of the station in 1974. Here are the simplified approaches, shorter and more modern platforms.
Edit: added Maps. Key of butchered map is: Red = WML routes operated by Electric locomotives of types AL1/AL6. Blue = EML routes operated by Deltics and Class 47s. Pink = ML operated by Class 37s and 47s. Yellow = Cheadle commuter routes operated by AM2s and 10s. Green = XCML operated by 37s and 47s.
Note. Not all trains operate the whole length of the EML from Weybridge to Gillingham, most operate Weybridge to Cheadle and Silchester to Gillingham.

An off topic question, what are the ratings for your stations? I find that for long distance, only those stations with multiple lines meeting together (eg. Cheadle) would have good ratings, those served by a single line rarely does well. Or am I doing something wrong.

Don't know and generally don't care

I think most of them are around the 50/60% mark but I think Cheadle only has 75% or something like that.

Mine are never above about 50%, since that would mean passengers occasionally running out and my timetabling going out of whack a wee bit, I prefer keeping at least 600 passengers at the busier stations at all times, most of the other stations have that by the end of the game too, just the way I tend to play, and the fact that TTRS leads to above average populations.

Hmm, sounds like Cityrail...

I just checked the ratings. Cheadle has 2,500 passengers waiting and a rating of 27% for passengers. Oh well.
Edit: It's served by 72 trains as well!

HOW MANY!? You mentalist, although that can be blamed on your usage of giant long maps I suppose. I think my busiest station has 12 trains or something, can't fit any more on the lines without adding craploads of platforms.
@Raichase: Lol.

Not really, I only have about 10 trains that run the entire length of the network and even that, to be fair, isn't the whole way, it's divided up into sectors so that I have more trains running the core section and less on the far flung extremities. The biggest number of trains are the locals (there are about 40 of those) and then there are the semi-fasts, there's generally 2 or 3 times as many semi-fasts as there are fasts on a route. The whole game has 109 trains of which 8 are stored. Remarkably, it all works!

What do you do when passenger numbers become almost uncontrollable?
Run 8 (12 car) trains of course!
Maltby was always an important station on the line from Gillingham to Cheadle but it just wasn't good enough as through trains were constantly being held up by trains stopping there. With the introduction of more through services it was decided to add extra tracks. This would mean the station would lose its junction status in order to accomodate the through lines. (the branch line to Chelmsford would be converted to Tram system instead). Here is the project after completion. Note the oddly located station buildings above platform 1.

Now, that are passenger trains I like to see! Extra long and full.

Keep up the good work!
