Doesn't look like a rotary dumper, more like a bucket loader. The trough between the rails indicates a bottom dump however, which fits the style of most ore cars.

A rotary dumper looks like a big barrel with the track running through it horizontally.

Hey guys. Here is a clip of a BN SD60M.

Not too bad, be better if we were including the SD60 in the set

. The SD50's going in, not the 60.

Are they similar though? Maybe the one can be changed into the other.
Please pay attention to the official tracking table:
http://www.as-st.com/ttd/usa/trains.html
which contains the official list of all the train sprites we need, with train models and the correct livery. Things not on that list, aren't going to be included! Because we just don't have enough slots.

Difference is 300HP, and several years. The decision was made to include the SD50 because the SD60 is too close to the C40-8 and SD70MAC, so no need to work on the SD60M - it won't make it in

message from the resident EMD guy...
EMD SD50 were produced between Nov 1984 to May 1985 (this does not count the canadian locomotives 04 1985 - 07 1987)
there were 421 of these models produced before they were succeeded by the SD60. They were 3500 and 3600 hp since they were constantly upgraded during their production.
SD60 produced from May 1984 - May 1991 with a total of 537 units built and 3800hp.
SD60M Jan 1989 - Jun 1993 461 built 3800 hp.
i think the SD50 fills a nice gap in the set, but the plain SD60 would do so as well, while still looking right for being produced for so long.

You do realize of course it's going to be impossible to tell an SD50 from an SD60

We've got limited ID's, and I'm inclined to say one or the other. Due to the near similarity between the SD60 and SD70/C40-8, I say we go for the SD50, that way we can have CSX Stealth, D&RGW and something else

Why do we need to add another diesel? Is there an operational gap I haven't detected?

The SD50 was to be a gap-filler between the C30-7 and the C40-8 IIRC

by krtaylor
Do we need one though? What's the gap - no diesel available at all in that year, or a performance gap of some kind?

Ken, can you please post the sprite set for the GE44 tonner please?
Posted: 27 May 2005 23:14
by DanMacK
Why do you need the spriteset for the 44 tonner? The generic livery that's on it is fine. Look at the "to-do" list before repainting things that aren't on there.
We'll leave the SD50 for the moment.
On another note, progress on the Milwaukee Boxcabs

I want to do a DDT locomotive. Refere to EJ&E 903.

Danmack, those boxcabs look awesome!

By "DDT", I'm assuming you mean a Baldwin/Lima-Hamilton DT2500-66 - one of those big centrecab transfer units.
One question... WHERE ARE WE GOING TO PUT IT?! It doesn't fill anygaps whatsoever. Even the RS1, I'm proposing it to replace the Alco S2 in Arctic.
As krtaylor said, ONLY DRAW THINGS ON THE TRACKING TABLE (Yes, the SD50's on there) *sigh*

I mean the DDT-6-6.

There's one D... It's a Diesel Transfer 2500HP 6 Axles 6 Motors. These things were opriginally built by Lima, later by Baldwin after they took over Lima. They were available in both 2000 and 2500 HP models. Only roads I know of that used them are PRR, EJ&E, Minniapolis, Northfield & Southern, Peabody Coal and the Trona Railroad. They weren't that common, and really wouldn't add anything, it would just waste an ID. It would make about as much sense to add a Centipede... Don't get any ideas.
GP9 lives again!

Alright Dan, I won't draw it.
On another topic.......The GP9 lives again!
Look at the front engine of this BN train at Rochelle Illinois. The second engine is an SD40-2 high hood engine owned by the NS.
