For the first time in a VERY long time, I agree with APDAF. I vote for a restart. IMHO the game has gone too far in the future.

Yes, a restart couln't hurt at this point; this game has gone for longer than all the prevous rounds put together. It's only annoying when a game is restarted prematurely, as was the round before this one. May I also suggest starting a new topic, as the OP of this topic has not been around in a while, and if a regualr player opened a new topic, we could easily post polls to vote on stuff.
Back on topic:
The USS Ibex, another new Daedalus class ship built for exploration and launched by the USAf, has gone on a surveying mission to Alpha Centauri. Unfortunately, contact has been lost and there is no sign of them. The public immediately feared that the ship had been lost the same way as the UES Endeavour several years ago, however the USS Ibex is much more advanced than the Endeavour was. A search and rescue mission involving the USS Commodore and the USS Benjamin Sisko will be launched tomorrow.

OK, restart it is...
In the meantime:
BREAKING NEWS!
FIRST CONTACT!
The USS Achilles has encountered a spaceship of unknown origin during it's exploration of the Alpha Centauri system. The alien ship has not responded to any hails and has left shortly afterwards.
This is the picture of the alien ship...

It's not first contact if you didn't actually manage to contact them...
Many now believe that these aliens are responsible for the disappearance of the UES Endeavour and more recently the USS Ibex. The USS Commodore is now in orbit of the large blue gas giant of Alpha Centauri A, which is near where the ship was seen. This particular planet has been home to curious anomalies ever since we arrived in this system.
They must be comunicating somehow... USAf scientists aboard the Earth Spacedock are experimenting with different subspace communication technologies to see if they can pick up any alien signals, since they apparently don't use anything similar to our current subspace radio technology. The new USS Ocelot will be fitted with a multiband subspace transceiver.
Back on Earth, the USAf opens the first super-hgh-speed expressway! Many modern automobiles are capable of speeds of over 500 km/h safely, and we have built the first road designed for such speeds! It is double the 250km/h speed limit that is on many regular freeways in the USAf. Most cars are powered by fuel cells or rechargeable batteries - there are standard recharge ports at many places. Larger vehicles such as heavy trucks and some long distance buses are powered by mini fusion reactors. Non-electric trains are mostly fuel cell powered, but some fusion trains also exist, such as the regional heavy rail lines that connect the many coastal cities, and also heavy freight.

I meant "first contact" as the first time we have actually seen an alien vessel.
We have tried to contact them via our subspace com-system and we are sure they have received the message. They simply decided not to respond.
