Would you be interested in a copy of the Excel spreadsheet I'm using for the US set and Japan set? It originated with uzurpator and has many forumas built into it to calculate the various parameters needed in the GRF files. I don't think anyone would object if you used its structure.

Sounds nice and it reminds me of something I'm still waitin for from Michael Blunck. BTW: it's not that nobody may use my spreadsheet for other projects. I just don't want to see this topic getting contaminated by uncontrolled versions.

1. I have an idea: Because some trains of the NS only appear in a 2-car-consist (no passenger cars are placed between the 'locos') it might be an idea to prevent any extra cars being placed in TTD. Maybe we can show a 'this-is-wrong-icon' in the Train Depot Window. This icons could be a NS-logo with a big red cross or something. Maybe if the player still wants to place passenger cars between the locos, we can use another sprite with a normal passenger car for in the game. I don't know if this is possible and I don't know if anyone likes the idea. If have made some examples in the image below.
2. If we keep the NS-set as realistic as possible we don't have any new trains after 2004, this isn't fun. How do we solve this problem or do we not solve this problem at all?
3. I've changed some of my sprites. The Sprinter looked a lot like the Blauwe Engel because of the round head. Other trains I had made used the same round head so I changed them too. Is this any better?
4. The DD-AR and 1600 are changed. This means the uploaded graphics bitmap and .pcx-file with my sprites are containing old sprites. Keep that in mind when downloading.
5. The .xls-file contains only 'numbers', it doesn't contain any names of trains (like Hondekop, Koploper, etc.), I find that a bit confusing.

You didn't look good enough. Open the file again and look at the different worksheets it has.

Is the .xls-file completely updated? For example the 1300 and 6400 locos. Why isn't there standing "busy", because now someone else my draw these locos while I've already drawn them. (same for DH-1 and DH-2)

Purno, why do you want that people always make the correct consist? It doesn't matter when the consist isn't correct. In the DBset you can make a six-car BR 612 for example. But that consist isn't correct to, because the BR 612 has no inset cars. But people like a six-car BR 612, so it doesn't matter.
Bastiaan (who likes a six-car Buffel too

)

If we 'allow' people making all consits, we need to draw all kind of passenger carriages for trains that are in reality 2-car-consists.

Hey Purno
I am missing some trains:
A Mat 54 (green version):
NS 1200 serie locomotive:
The Lint 41:
Syntus/NS DE 2:
NS 1500 serie locomotive:
The NS DE Loc:
NS 1800 serie loc:
ACTS 1200 serie:
Mat 24

Okay,
- The Mat 54 in Green is not that difficult to make, I have a yellow one so I only need to change the colors (but I need to know if my yellow Mat 54 is correct)
- According to Hyronymus' .xls-file someone else is busy with the 1200
- I thought the Lint 41 wasn't from the NS
- I can try making the DE-II from my old sprinter sprites
- I can try making the NS 1500 from my 1300 loc
- The DE Loc seems difficult to make
- About the 1800: Can't we use the 1600 sprites?
- Mat 24 seems difficult too

Erh... could that person busy with the 1200 according to the list be me?
I've decided I completely suck at 2d graphics, so I quit.

right lets post a bit

. I'm busy making it imposible to make koplopers in any size other that 3 or 4 cars so you can have 3-4-5-6 till 12 cars in diferend combinations (hmm is anyone folowing this?

). I'm doing this becouse in a 3 car set only the front car is powered and in a 4 car set the 1st and 2nd are powered. This way I will restrict the way you can build the train only in the way I alow it. (I love that power

).
Anyway I wanted to ask if I should stop doing this and let you all decide on your own how long you want one single "treinstell" to be. eg like bastiaan said, he wants a 6 car buffel.
so you can shoose for the right way of building and the corect amound of power, or you can have compleet free form with wrong power ratings.....

Okay, I like the idea of the real horsepower and only 3-4 car consists. But isn't this too difficult to do? And isn't it weird that the koploper is the only train which has restrictions to its consists? Maybe (if it isn't too difficult to do) we can do this to all trains?
btw: Should 'coupled' koplopers have another sprite than non-coupled koplopers?

My impression of the recent posts since Purno posted his graphics and I posted my spreadsheet: we shouldn't have done it.
The set ISN'T FINISHED YET. Purno's graphics aren't all the graphics we have sofar. For example, we don't miss a mat '54. Broodje made that one, as well as (with help from Mauro) a Mat '64. The 1200 is still under construction by me and the LINT, as mentioned, isn't a NS train (and it looks ugly too). I'm also still busy with the 1100 and 2200.
To summarize: what we have is in the spreadsheet. What Purno made is in his graphics. Does sound logical huh?!
PS: Purno, we (we=broodje, you and me) haven't talked about your graphics yet. I only put Yes in the spreadsheet for engines/EMU/DMU that are 100% finished. You also drew trains that broodje already drew. So we have to vote for those. But don't worry, once we talked about your graphics I will update the spreadsheet.

You'd do better to rig it so the last car is always the curved-end loco, and the cars on the inside alternate between front-facing and rear-facing. That way, the effect will be to have any number of two-car sets connected.

Sure it's fun. If you have trains all the way from 1920, then by 2010 you will probably have everything on the map connected that's worthwhile. And then you stop. If you include the trains being newly purchased today, you just don't give them an ending date, so they are available as far into the future as you like. Or you could make a guess as to what future locos will be like, but that's hard sometimes.

Hyronymus has my Excel spreadsheets, which should be easier to use as well as more thorough.

heh ofcourse, thats what is in it anyway. it sis a double headed train now. so you always have 2 powered cars per train.

I think we can guess pretty well how future NS trains will look. Their names are quite predictable, and they have reveiled their new livery, wich will last for quite some time.

Here's an updated version of the NSset spreadsheet.
Edit: newer version posted, old version removed.

I also gave it a shot a loooong time ago but I never got to finishing anything. Then again, it seems I won't have to because a pretty good sprinter is now done (needs some work on the way it looks a bit rounded) and the 1200 seems to be worked on by two people at the same time

I honestly never knew Arathorn was working on the 1200. I thought he tried his skills at the 1300

. And I'm actually pretty certain about that

Don't you know what the number series of the "Beelen" are? It's the 2600!
