Currently which buildings are set to be preserved? Really like the city hall, hotel and cathedral buildings. Haven't made it to the late 1900s yet so not sure what modern buildings it has to offer. Look forward to possibly seeing more skyscrapers though!

IF you want, I can give a few polish skyscrapers if you fancy. They're in MMS form though, so they may need to be edited down for townset use
We would appreciate this very much. If you like, please send me a PM with link or any other preferred way to share the files.
Firstly, most public service buildings are protected. That includes town and city halls, churches, cathedrals or the parks. An exception are hospitals and stadiums. I have witnessed three hospitals being built and torn down in my home town during my life time (yet), so it felt kind of natural

.
Apart from that, larger town and city buildings are protected, if built prior to 1919, and as long as being located within a radius of three tiles of the little village church (that is always there at game start), the 2x1/1x2-tile town churches, or the town hall. The "lore" behind this is that every town evolves from a little nucleus, and, if its inhabitants care for their heritage, grows around this nucleus. If they don't and flatten said buildings in favour of a railway line or a tram depot, the old town houses will dissapear, unless a new protection-enabling church or town hall is built nearby.

This cannot apply to hospitals, simply because the requirements for them are changing. Old buildings tend to have poor access, nothing is barrier-free, it is difficult to build elevators, not to mention electrical and water distribution systems. And fire safety regulations.

Another thing, I use game scripts quite often.
Even though I think that in principle they shouldn't have any negative impact, I'm still a little worried. But I haven't noticed anything yet.

I have tested the set with the city growth limiter script. It worked without any glitches. Of course, scripts like this that alter the game mechanics will have an effect, e.g. on city progession from villages to cities.

I understand the situation with protected buildings, but there is an interesting question. What if a building from another city graphic appears in the protection zone?
According to natural logic, she should be protected, but the set probably doesn't recognize her, right?

No. That would only be possible if the other NewGRF had implemented a condition code-wise for the special buildings of our set. Technically, it is possible to check for the IDs of another NewGRF and define conditions. But that would be up to the creators of the other NewGRF.
Also you should not think of the mechanism as a kind of zone. Rather, the houses of our set which we want to last as part of the old town look for the existence of one of the protection-enabling buildings within the described radius. If one is there, they are protected.

Thanks, I thought it would be something like this.
If I understand correctly, there can be more than one historical center.

Unfortunately, TTRS tends to stuff skyscrapers everywhere in the late game. Swedish and English sets are more moderate in this regard, exotics with Hothut or Japanese buildings can look interesting, where skyscrapers can be limited to really large cities.
Not yet tested with Polish sets due to the late launch of version 4, version 1 does not work with other sets.
