Wait a second please.

I suggest we go much slower, 1 year = 3 IRL days IMO.

Reasons:
- we'll move too fast into the modern age
- "older" times give more opportunities for roleplay (lower tech level)
- modern times and high-tech soon becomes stockpiling of technology with less roleplay involved (see previous game)
- we'll make this game run longer

What do you people think?

As for in-game:

Rijeka is searching for a steady supplier of steel. Please, give us your business offers.

I strongly agree. Let's not rush through the 19th century because we're impatient to get modern technology. There's plenty of fun to be had in colonising new lands and subsequently fighting over them :P

The King has commissioned an Exploration Fleet composed of five ships and brave captains who are willing to risk their lives to discover new lands. The fleet will set sail down the west coast of Africa.

We are willing to send ambassadors to all interested nations, and we accept any embassy offerings.

We would also like to import oil/oil products, since we have not been able to find any natural oil reserves on our kingdom. We can trade for ores, coal, timber and steel.
@Rijeka: I propose a trade: Oil products for steel.

We import crude oil too but our refinery produces oil products like parafine, lubricants, burning oil and similar products.

We would appreciate a deal with steel for oil products.

@Voyager - Assuming that steel exists now, then we find this deal perfect for us.
We produce good amounts of steel and some oil products seem perfect for our continuous development.

@Opan - Welcome, we are open to trade with any nation who wishes to. We currently are pioneers in metal and Glass Manufacturing, if you should need those.

The Kaiser would like to help fund the fleet, by offering two additional ships to the fleet which are are Rhinelander crewed.

And we will open an embassy in your capital and build one for you in ours.

A group of Argentine explorers went looking for natural resources such as Iron, Coal and Copper that could be used by Argentina. They found the 3 resources they were looking for in a heavily forested area, that was several weeks sailing away. Argentina quickly dispatched troops to secure the area, with it becoming the Panamanian State of Argentina. All resources that are extracted from the area will be shipped by a heavily stretched fleet of vessels to the mainland, before being used in various processes.

Ok, that sounds like a good idea. So the year is currently 1802 if we go off that timeline, sound good?

@Skyrim: We can supply you with crude oil, as we have reserves under our nation. :D

------

@Rhineland: We wish to buy a further 12 Ships off you, of the Full-rigged Ship design. These are to be used on our longer journeys to the Panamanian State, as well as to Europe.

To all - of course that steel exists in 1800. What do you think muskets, rifles or cannons were made of? It was of lower quality that in 1900s but still good enough for forging i.e. cannons which demand a very hard steel.

I'm not sure crude oil was tapped until the 1880s however. But, it's your game :)

EDIT: And until the 1860s, I believe most cannons were bronze.

Certainly, delivery will be in 12-18 months and payment of 25,000 Rhineland Goldmarks.

We can provide both, just tell us what kind of ships you want and how many you want.
Do you want muskets or rifles?
Rifles cost twice as much but can actually hit something at range.

Hmmm. Now that you've mentioned it, I see you are right. Indeed, steel was used but much less than bronze which was cheaper and easier to process. My bad people.

SquireJames wrote:I'm not sure crude oil was tapped until the 1880s however
There have always been "natural" wells and that oil was used for fueling lamps, making parafine for candles, lubricants for various machinery and similar things. Of course, no gasoline or diesel fuel or anything similar, just basic "refinements", if you can call the this way at all.

Ah true, things like Pitch Oil etc.

Remember though if you purchase Rifles, they take far longer to load than Muskets :) So, there are upsides and downsides.

I was hoping for more of a 1500s start but this will do!

The Aternian Empire is formed!

Years of wars among the 7 provinces have taken its toll. For over 300 years, the 8 Empires have fought over who should rule, Tang killed Lau, who was overthrown by Thine. The men that didn't die in battle, have been taken by famine. With the farmers pulled into each army, crops were left to die, leaving the massive area with little to no food.

From the wars, villages were formed, escaping the bigger areas in a hope that they would be left alone. The 7 Empires fell silent, each too weak to wage war and it would seem, to live on.

Until the Aternian Empire formed (What is now classed as the capital). Emperor Hun waited. Before him his father waited, and so did his grand father. It was written that Hun would rule the nation and make it strong. While the 7 nations fought each other, the Aternian's sat silent, away in the mountains, building. Forges were made and armor built, crops were sown and forts built.

10 years ago, Hun's waiting ended, and an army of 20,000 marched from The Aternian Empire. Each province fell, 1 by 1, until all 7 had been taken. Hun was smarter than the others, rather than kill and wipe out, he collected. Each empire enslaved before him, creating more soldiers. With each ruler killed before his men, the soldiers loyalties fell with Hun.

Now the Aternian Empire is not just a city, but a country. 8 provinces under his rule, he now begins to take his battle out of the Sacred land, to where no Emperor tread before. He will unite this land, be it by honour, or blood.

(Just a little back story. Cities are in pink, as the green didnt show up)

Country: The Aternian Empire
Government: Empirical
Ruler: Emperor Hun

Capital: The Atern Province
Population : 190.000

Economy
Production/exports: Weapons, armor, horses, corn, silk, iron.
Imports: None (So far)

Major industries: 2 coal mines, 3 iron mines.

Military

30,000 Foot soldiers

5,000 Mounted horses

(Pretty basic)

Welcome Back LNM, let's try to have less wars this time
Would you be interested in a trans-pacific trade route? We can offer you oils and copper, whilst we'd be interested in silks and corn.

@LNM - Welcome back....
As A321 said, less wars please...

map unlocked

We have made some naval exploration to the east. A small stop-off point for ships of any size was made by a group of about 20 sailors, whilst the main detachment carried on to their final destination, which ended up being the mouth of the river Nile, where a large settlement has been constructed and farming around the fertile floodplains is beginning now.
They say that sea fog limited their vision meaning they literally sailed round Tunisia without finding it....

@A321 and Voyager - If you wish to add lines for our shipping routes then go for it, you can also clean up my ones if you think they are too messy.

As far as The Aternian Empire is concerned, we do not know of your existence, nor you of ours (Yet?).

Emperor Hun begins marching his army towards the East in hopes of establishing a port. With this port he hopes to build a navy, and cross the sea for the first time. Rumors of a large boat carrying strange items begins to circulate, Emperor Hun intends to find out.

Good point

The Argentine government has announced that they are going to send a vessel north up the west coast of West America, before heading across the ocean to see what wonderful lands we can discover!
