All that is irrelevant though - if the train's structure has been weakened it doesn't make any difference if it was immaculate on the outside.

I remember specifically that after they selected some of the 47s for the 57 rebuild, one was declined (and later scrapped) because it was found to have been running with a significant kink in the bodyframe.
