I agree with FooBar. In the title game there should be only examples without any doubts about them. Only typical usage (it doesn't mean it can't be complex).
Also you should not use path signals where regular signals could be placed.

The success of the signals is not dependent on the signals themselves in this setup. It is dependent on the capacity of the railway at other locations. The system can be made more robust by removing two signals or extending the double track. As it stands now, three trains in both directions will provide no problem at any time. With the small adjustment, I can fill the entire track across with trains without it going wrong but in my opinion, the fact that I can get six trains of a length of 5 on 35 track pieces is enough.

In my mind, a title game screen should display what you can do, rather than what you should do.

Keep in mind that new players will see the title game and try to emulate it (if they don't read the wiki, etc.), leading to problems.

Despite my objections of doing so, I have made an alternative. I'll post the screenshot here. Tell me what you think of it.

This will then probably replace my old save file.
EDIT: New safe file uploaded. All of my other save files have been replaced (this post doesn't contain that save file)
(EDIT2: by uploading a new safe file again, the screenshot was deleted)

My weak attempt at this...

It's fine. I'd only move or copy the rail and truck station at the top right to the bottom left, and scroll down a bit to skip all that empty space at the top. Intercity buses would also make a nice addition.

Good idea. I'll work on that when I'm not lazy again :D

Play the game in 640*480 mode and then find the place where you can still show a lot (so move your screen to the city). As it is now, half of the title screen for 640*480 will be forest. They key is to get as much on that small patch which will be the upper left corner as you extend the screen to larger resolutions.

I've uploaded my new game now.

In my opinion, title game should consist of more elements - higher trafic. So thats my final version for title game competition and I hope You will enjoy it ;)

Nice! I still see some path signals where you probably (or I at least) don't want one, but regardless of that I like it!
This rural area on big screens is great, while on small screens there's still a lot going on.

Next time use png for screenshots, please. Jpg is just, well, awfull...

I really like your title game. It is probably be my #1 for voting so far. Next time, no need to save the screenshots as JPG. Stay with the default screenshot format PNG. The difference is that PNG keeps all colours intact while JPGs tend to make especially signals harder to see.

The only thing I can come to think of is that your only entry-signal that I can see seem to be hidden behind the office building. Maybe convert one of your RoRo stations in the electric rail network form PBS to pre-signals?

Looks very nice to me. Makes good use of the various screensizes and a lot of variety. Many other good ones unfortunately have vast areas with trees or alike only so that only half the screen is interesting but this one does not have that problem. Even the fileds are nicely used (intentionally?) by demonstrating the aircrafts shadow on ground.
My absolute favorite so far. :D

Now, those are very nice new additions.

I updated the website with all the screenshots and savegames: http://devs.openttd.org/~planetmaker/titlegame/

@Vinnie I think it's ok when I left out your 'entry' from the list? 8)
@Plasma_Wolf: The assumption that your last savegame is an update to the previous one, is also correct?

Looks nice, just a comment on your Monorail part:
Your signalling is not completely correct. You are using combo signals, but you should use a path signal in front of it, because there are 2 different routes (1 into the station, 1 not).

If you leave it running for a few minutes one of your trucks gets taken out by the monorail!

Thanks for comments!

I must say, that this proposition was prepared some time ago and I already have found few misteakes. Some of them cannot be revised - like wrong placement of oil rig - which is cut in the middle on most popular resolution 1280x800 (bottom left).

What still can be done:
- I have to totaly reconstruct this monorail station, including mentioned path signals (dont know how I have missed it! - maybe because I have changed everything several times..)

- of course the rail shouldnt cross road (high traffic=accident) - but You will not deny that it could be another atraction ;)
PaulC wrote:If you leave it running for a few minutes one of your trucks gets taken out by the monorail!
- lack of road by company boulding

- Im really opened for suggestions, so fell free to write to me. Sad is that it will be almost imposible to catch such a good moment to make "savegame" (i mean in placement of all vehicles). But I will give a try in free time (probably beggining of February).

Sorry for this jpgthing - will never happen again ;P

And Yes - fileds were placed intentionally ;) Before I started doing/playing my candidate in-game, I made a smal project on paper...

Of course you can revise and change that:
- enable magic bulldozer and delete it
- cheat yourself enough money to fund a new one where you want it

The title game is only for the looks, using a money cheat or the magic bulldozer are totally acceptable.

You can also have fun by creating a 2nd (or 3rd) company and then cheat yourself to those and build those companies. Thus in effect different company colours show :-)

I could try.
Should I submit 1.1.4 savegame or 1.2.0 beta?

Features:
Temperate climate (much more interesting trains), every cargo is transported.
All types of rails & train engines.
Basic pre-signals & path signals.
Single, Dual and Multi-headed trains.
International airport & heliport with most usefulcommon planes.
All types of ships (on higher resolutions).
Trucks, buses, two-way RV highway

Comments/corrections?

Updated monorail, more pre-signals.

Both 1.1.4 as 1.2.0 beta will do as long as it is an unpatched version.

Comments:
Your top monorail line from the station to the bottom right can deadlock when there are multiple trains doing that route. I didn't open your save to check if there are multiple trains going to take that route, but in either case I would remove the signals on that line.
Can you move the monorail lines that are going from your station to the top right 1 tile to the top left? Then you can place a signal before the junction (seen from the station), to prevent having trains from that line waiting untill the train in the station (middle track) is done loading and gone.

Further it looks nice.
