Do I get a riddle?

Ok, does this kind of riddle work? (and if you wish, just post a new one instead)

A man lives alone in an apartment located on the ninth floor of an apartment complex. Every morning, he uses the elevator to get down to ground level and go to work. When he gets home, he takes the elevator up to the seventh floor, then walks the rest of the way. However, if it's a rainy day, he will take the elevator all the way up. Why?

Because he is "vertically challenged" as they say and can't reach the 9th floor button.
When it rains he has an umbrella so can whack the 9th button with that.

or the steps are on the out side?

yeah what John said. He can't reach the Ninth Floor Button in the elevator. So if he has an umbrella he uses that to reach the button.
