This does not seem to work for me...

Why? Just to make it as real life? Seems like a very bad argument. Is there anything the game will gain out of it? Enlight me, 'cause i'm in the dark big time.

Hello,
why do the "railroadguys" try to make this? Because it looks better. This has been diskussed a long time, and most of them agree, that the game gains a more realistic experience with the planned larger train depots. So why not make this also available on airports?

I have updated your post with the appropriate Wikipedia notation:

You mean that a single plane in a hangar (and thus vanishing from plain sight) does look better? I'm sorry, I do not follow the argument here...
Purator wrote:the game gains a more realistic experience
Who said that it's the goal aimed either by the devs or even Chris Sawyer? From my point of view, it is not the case, by far. Not with the kind of graphics we have, not with the kind of mashed potatoes proportions that are the trademark of the game. It's a game, it's not an attempt to mimic reality. Getting closer to reality would make it boring as hell, in many places.
Purator wrote:with the planned larger train depots. So why not make this also available on airports?
The larger train depot is just an optical illusion. The idea is to group many train depots into one, making it look like a "real" one. The game engine has never been considered to be changed in order to allow just ONE TRAIN inside of it.
You though so? Sorry to bust your bubble

So since no one ever wanted (at least to my knowledge) to make it so only one vehicle could enter a depot or even be on a depot at any time, the same applies to aircraft hangar.

Okay, I'll bite
I would a) like to see multiple hangars for airports, b) only one airplane at a time inside a hangar, and c) only one train in a depot at a time.
But, it should be a game option. Understandably, the reason why you can multiple vehicles in a garage/depot/hangar/dock is the limitations of the original game. During that time, it was literally a waste of playing space and a resources to dedicate such attention to depots. These days, with OpenTTD being more adaptable for us "sandbox" players, it would be a nice option.
Not that I can code any of it myself, unfortunately (at least, not yet, I have cracked open NFO a little), just throwing my voice out there.

I don't understand your proof that the pathfinding is deadlock-free, but I do understand that I got one

.
The airplanes just stopped to move (and the left one can't land).

Thanks for the report.
The proof is complicated, but I trust it more than the code. I guess it is a bug, it looks like one of the planes has forgot to reserve the runway. Unfortunately I don't think I have time to fix it now. Are you using both runway types, or do the planes land and take off on the same runway? I don't remember having tested the latter too much.

Just reading this makes it seem awesome not as in a minigame format but in general, modular airports.
Gonna have to try this!
