Very nice pictures! Maybe you could post your scenario here?

Yes, here is! It's a revisited version of Polopolis scenario that I found in OpenTTD with these grf:
Combined North American Signals v1.1
NewStations V0.42 05.09.05
Stolen Trees
Canadian Trainset v0.3d
North American Road Set v1.0
Industrial Stations Renewal v0.7.1
Canadian Stations Set v0.3d
I think it's a very fun and interesting scenario, try it.

Grandunion Railroad 1925
Five years later and the rail network has expanded again. The Mountain Division has reached Tanville, a very small village but with a profitable iron ore mine. A new narrow gauge line (Minnings Range Division) links Minnings Range coal mine down to Nudston Fen power plant. In Stipwich finally the GURR has managed to build the new station on the Fen Division; the tracks leading to the old station has been disconnected as they are useless.

Grandunion Railroad 1933
After eight years three new divisions are running:
Springfield Division, a standard gauge passenger-only line between Kenbourne and Newbay at the eastern edge of the world, at present unconnected with the rest of the network
Drillians Division, a narrow gauge passenger-only line between Minham and Longharbour on Drillians Island; the connecting Minham Lumber Branch is used to feed a sawmill in Polton with woods from local forests. The Drillians Division is linked with Tatfingbourne via a ferry service from Minham.
Southern Division, a standard gauge interurban line between Fen City (Mill Street station) and Karterwood.
My beloved Mountain Division has reached Predham, while Rylesvalley trolley system now serves also Stipwich and Minning. As now buses are available the GURR is planning to introduce them to serve the smallest villages, but I'd like also to have a rail-only network (with exception of ships as I found trains don't run very well in water).

Here is an updated map, quite large! I hope it can make everything more clear.

Nice screenshots.
I especially like the maps you've made. Full of detail!

Grandunion Railroad 1935
Problems for the GURR. A new extension of the Springfield Division west to Wradhill into the Barlardon Wetlands plus a branch north to the sea was constructed with high expenditure of money

because of the rough terrain (more than 1 600 000 $) to connect Wradhill oil wells with Gennington refinery. But, suddenly, the oil wells ceased to operate before the first train could be put into service. So, now the Gennington Branch is unused, still connected to the network, while the siding to the oil wells has been disconnected as it's totally useless. The extension to Wradhill sees only two daily passenger trains with Doodlebug, a coach and a RPO (however not used, as mail service exists only east of Liminham).
In the meantime a profitable new narrow gauge division (Gadham) was inaugurated to provide mainly coal service from Gadham mine down to Springfield power plant; the line is also used by a little daily-except-sunday local passenger train.

I love the way you build your network, its really realistic!

I also like the network maps you make, they are A LOT simpler than the TTD ones.
How do you use both narrow gauge and normal gauge rails like in this screenshot?:

Great screenies, keep them coming, please.
Can we get a shot of the industrial area of North Minning, please.
Thanks.

Thank you. Yes, my map is simpler and with this it's easy to keep under my eye all the network. You can have both narrow and standard gauge using the Canadian Trainset that is in fact the trainset that I'm using in this game.

Grandunion Railroad 1936
When GURR management (-> I

) projected the fabulous Mountain Division no one expected that this little narrow gauge line would become one of the most important line of the system. But in fact this happened! Problem is that almost all the line was single track with passing sidings; to improve capacity now workmen are laying down a second track between Rylesvalley Heights and Puntfingburg with also broader curves and easier grades than the old main track. It was planned to convert to standard gauge, too, but this project has been rejected (now! we'll see if in the future......) as too much complicated. One of the greatest enjoyment I have with TT is when I make works at the railroad without stopping the game and with trains running on the affected track! So, to ensure the traffic flow would not be blocked, I must take a lot of care and, if it is necessary, also to lay down short provisional pieces of track, like real railorads do!

Finally oil traffic has started! A new extension of the Springfield Division has reached Rutfingborough Market and its oil wells. In the meantime the Mountain Division is being constructed between Predham and Planingbury; this is the second smallest village on the world with just 39 inhabitants, but it has an interesting iron mine, very useful to feed with more ore the steel mill in Tatfingbourne. I've attached a map of the northeastern portion of the network with also the new proposed extensions of the Mountain Division that will join the Northern and the Springfield creating an united network of railroads (although with some gauge breaks).

Grandunion Railroad 1940
DOT DOT DONE! The GURR has just hammered the last, golden spike, joining all the network. Now it is possible to go from Minnings Range to Gadham, changing train in Nudston Fen, Rylesvalley with a short trip by trolley from South to North Station), Puntfingburg, Puningbury Central and Springfield (with another journey in streetcar). Divisions' names and borders are little changed: now the Mountain is just the portion between Rylesvalley and Puntfingburg; all the line from Puntfingburg east to Puningbury is now called Barladon Division, from the river's name that blesses the railroad; the former Northern Division it's now a branch (Northern Branch) of the Barladon, although the branch it's more busy than the mainline!
Next steps:
1) make all the network more efficient and profitable
2) replace with PCCs some of the oldest trolleys

The whole map and some statistic.
The GURR owns:
3 ships (one cargo)
12 standard gauge trains:
-- 8 steam trains
---- 3 freight trains
-- 2 gas trains
-- 2 electric trains
25 narrow gauge trains (all steam):
-- 13 freight trains
18 trolleys
no road vehicles, no planes!

Grandunion Railroad 1950
Ten years has been passed since last installment. The network hasn't expanded much, GURR management has spent a lot of time and effort to install the new PBS signal system and to try (just to try

) to make everything more profitable. Nine trains are still in passive, but for the moment this isn't a problem. Let's go with three sceenshots!

Grandunion Railroad 1951
The GURR projected years ago to elevate Fen Division tracks between Rylesvalley Central and Stipwich to eliminate various grade crossings and to open the access to the free area behind the railroad. Now the project has just started, not so easy because tracks are quite busy and train traffic cannot be stopped. In the meantime, a year ago an A+B set of new GMD FP7 diesels was bought and put in service on the Springfield Division together with older Pacifics.

more than a year to elevate the railroad only in Rylesvalley and only with just two tracks. The definitive project should be at four track to separate express from local trains and should be extended in Stipwich city limits, too, also because the GURR is planning to build a standard gauge branch from Stipwich to Minning (the narrow gauge line via North Minning is quite busy) and traffic to Rylesvalley Central will increase a lot!

Aaaargh

a terrific, ehm, terrible train crash has just happened in Stipwich! The track gang working there forgot to put correctly all signals: the local Rylesvalley Central – Fen City Central was leaving slowly Stipwich when the following express hit it at 105 mph. The two trains carried 229 persons, traffic is disrupted in the following hours until the wrecked trains are lifted from the railroad. The two engines, Ten-Wheeler 2301 and Northern 2420, has no chance to be repaired and will be scrapped.
EDIT
A year later and the elevation project was completed

, "just" four years to achieve this result. Now the section from Rylesvalley Central to Stipwich has four tracks and the promised branch to Minning has just entered in service. On this new line there are in service two twin sets of new GP9 serie 1750 – 1754. Next step:
1) add two more tracks between Stipwich and Nudston Fen Jct to have an all four-track line between Rylesvalley and Fen City (I need more trains between these cities)
or
2) link with a new line through the mountains Fen City and Newport connecting the two standard gauge sections of the GURR
or
3) regauge the old Minning Division (Rylesvalley – Minning via North Minning) to improve commuter trains in Rylesvalley area.
Choose you, if you want!

Some very nice screenshots there. They all have a nice old-fashioned feel to them.
