I'd say you put the general TTD on top, then TTDP, then OTTD and after that LoMo, then TE and as last all the others. That seems to be the most logical order to me.

I agree yeah, I don't know about all the forums, but it seems to me that OpenTTD gets the most traffic.

That is the order that I planned to do things in (with the current Read These First and General forums at the very top, above the game-related forums).

I believe some of the less active bottom forums could be merged into an "Other Transport Related games" forum, also for RollerCoaster Tycoon discussions and similar (I know RCT has been mentioned before, but this would give it a section where it could be spoken about without actually increasing the amount of forum sections).

Also, the moving-down of Locomotion sounds like a fair deal to me

Code: Select all

Other Projects and Games
    Simutrans
    Transport Giant
    Railroad Tycoon Series
Transport Unlimited (as it's locked, perhaps put this below the projects/games where we can post?)
    Other Transport Related Games
Or something like that?

But it also hides the non related forums if people refuse to let it be moved to near the bottom. I agree that the forum index isn't too long. I also agree with the current proposals.

Well, I've shuffled things around a bit. I haven't yet created a Forum Games forum, as none of the moderators have really commented yet... I also haven't renamed the General/Problems/Suggestions/whatever forums of TTDPatch, OpenTTD, etc, yet, due to the issue with identifying a forum in the Search feature.

Reverse it, forum is unlogic now.

I would say it's more logic than ever. Screenshots that far up is great, it's something we all want to easily access. I still suggest a GRF Crawler button somewhere near the top as well

i find this order to be highly functional. stop whining, IA.

edit: what, you're even worse than i thought. "boohoo, i'm not making mods because it's down at the bottom, boohoo". christ, are you 11 or anything similar age-wise? this is just pathetic.

I agree. I think they are just complaining because they are no longer first like they have been for a few years now. This is TT-Forums and not Locomotion-Forums. If you want to be at the top, use the special lomo only URL.

I like the new layout. I no longer need to scroll further than a 1/3 of the way down! :D

With respect, I also don't see that it's really all that big a deal. If Locomotion were to become really popular, and be used by more people than the TT-related forums, then it could be moved back. As it is, it's not. Locomotion was placed at the top when created because we thought it'd turn out to be a fantastic game that everybody would start playing, leaving TT for dust. This did not happen.

Anyway, the forums are still accessible, and easy to get to, you just have to scroll down a bit - like OpenTTD has had to do for a few years, too. They seem to have managed.

seems like it is pointless for us loco forum people to put our thoughts here, looks like admin has made up their minds.

And OpenTTD people have been scrolling down for a very long time. I will still be checking the lomo forums every now and then if I have a reason to or ive ready everything else I want to.

Don't be so childish. :?
As has been said many times, the OpenTTD people have put up with having to scroll down for the last however many years (longer than I've been here, that's for sure) and they've never complained. If one did a proper poll where everybody from both the OTTD and Loco forums voted, I would think the result would be it stays like it is now.

If the scrolling is really a hardship for you (I will grant that I got tired of eternally scrolling past Off-Topic) then do what I've already suggested: Get Greasemonkey and Platypus, and use Platypus to make a Greasemonkey script that removes the forums you don't visit from the main page. It's point and click. You click "Erase", and then you click the thing you want erased. Lather, rinse, repeat.

from the loco section:

Its not so much the position - its the lack of bothering of anyone other than myself to notify to lomo community. It only takes a little bit of notice to alert us to a move.

I think every appears to be *extreamly* one viewed in the direction of openttd and not even thinking "hey - the lomo'ers don't often come out of their area, what do they think?"...

Quite frankly, I couldn't give a damn over where it is. I give a damn over peoples effort to notify a community.

This forum is one, notifications are at the top of the forum.

The most lomo'ers who voiced their opinion said that it should have stayed the other way with lomo at the top. However more people indirectly voted OpenTTD to be a the top with quite reasonable arguments IMHO.

It is a *sub* of the forums - it doesn't mean everyone would look.

It is a simple case of telling people with a global announcement topic. If I chose to re-organise a forums without giving a global notification, you can bet your bottom dollar that the members would rip my balls off.

I don't often look in news, nor in this suggestions and feedback. Why? Because I have other things to do... yet, those who seem to have the time to look at each and every topic seem to think I'm being OTT. I feel I'm not. I feel that this whole thing could have been carried out with a lot more courtesy and consideration.

As said previously, I don't always look in this topic. If I hadn't have been reading the #tycoon irc channel, I wouldn't have even known that this was going to happen - my question would be - would any other person here have bothered to point it out?
