Whopper emailed me yesterday. He's actually very busy. But he also prepares the map/finish some parts.

Thanks for the corrections on the wiki Pug :)

For question/comments to the history or volunteering to the project please contact Whopper, as he is the leader of the project.

A quick info on what's actually going on. Whopper has send me the map this night for a test. It's just a test if our ideas on how to work on the map are work like intended. I'll start editing a part until there's something that Whopper can review. When all goes right, what I really hope, then the project gets really started. :)

Btw. Whopper has also updated the project page today.

Thanks for the gramar check, pug. I am dislectic so my apologies for that. Anyways, as Sleepy already mentioned he is now working on the map and he will send it back to review in about one week and a half. If it works out properly then I will start sending the map to other members as well.

To wolf: I like your idea of the "static map" switch, it would be really nice if the programmers could add this ?

To Emohawk: can you tell what part of the history needs clarification?, then I can change it a bit on the Wiki. Also feel free to mail me if you want to help out.

From today's changelog...
r9613 maedhros 2007-04-12 19:24:34 +0200 (Thu, 12 Apr 2007) 7 lines
-Feature: Make it possible to have some control over the town growth. The
default rate is TTD's original rate, and to approximate OpenTTD's previous
behaviour the rate should be set to "Fast" or "Very Fast". Town growth can be
switched off entirely, and if so, buildings will not be rebuilt.
It is also
possible to specify a proportion of towns that grow twice as fast as the
others.
Thanks to the devs :) These are great news for our project, especially when we have finished it someday ;)

Great news indeed. Any updates of the map yet? And I'm really itching to get started on a little section of the map as well, any chance of that happening anytime soon?

I hope I could make enough progress this weekend so I can send the map back to Whopper for a review. As already mentioned when this test works well than the map will be shared by all team members. So it could be (very) soon. But I could not say when exactly, so you have to be patient yet ;)

Nice Flags, the problem with the history is, it currently states:
History wrote: Soon after the rebellion in the Freestate Antioch managed to train an army and also declared war on Impiriata which resulted in a gaining a relatively large part of Impiriata’s land.
The first problem is Antioch is the mountain range so this should be changed to Antia, the second is that on the map Antia and Impiriata have no common border so unless the freestate split Impiriata in two, without taking land up to the then border with Antia, this war and the outcome would be impossible.

Its not a problem as such, in fact it might not need changing, I just need it clarified in my own mind.

Thanks

You are right about antioch :), my mistake

About the border, the Freestate first was Impiriata, the freestate started as a small riot in one of the diamond mines, then they took over the city of Mia Bonanda and after that they quickly took control of the surrounding lands, in the same time Antia pushed back Impiriata from the northern parts and eventually the troops of Antia reached The freestate, wich made them bordering eachother.

After some time constraints last week I have worked a bit longer on the map as it was original planned. I have send the map back to Whopper today so he can review my changes.

I have attached two pictures which gives you an overview about the changes and the map itself ;) Well the changed parts are still very much WIP :P

Have you considered using the no roads patch? This puts the player in complete control of a town's roads, so there will be no more removing town-built roads every so often. Download here: http://www.tt-forums.net/viewtopic.php?t=30972&start=40 Bottom of the page.

Yes we have, but not now, because it's not important in the scenario editor and as long as we are working on the map we'll stick on the latest stable release for compatibility reasons. Besides the patch you mentioned there already exist one in trunk which gives you more control about the town growth, see here. Anyway thanks for the hint :)

Aye, I think it's also better to stick to the current OpenTTD, it's the savest way. Here some pix of Tilegro and the eastcoast of Rutanio.

That scenario just looks too good to actually play!

It makes my efforts seem pathetic by comparison, building scenarios is what I love to do on OTTD. I'm currently working on one of the area where I live in Central Alberta, Canada (roughly a 200km radius around the city of Edmonton) and I'm putting in a lot of work to it - getting the road network in place etc. It's actually fairly easy because the land out here is surveyed in square sections called townships which are 6 miles x 6 miles square, so working off maps makes it easy to build on square tiles. Having seen this though, I am seriously humbled and wonder if there's any point in going on any more. No really. That is one serious piece of work (and by that I am referring to the scenario not the guy who built it....)
For a moment, I was in someone else's plush, squeaking armchair.
