So I would think that the statement "nothing of original code is left" would already be true.
OMG you are so naive ... what you said is: if you took book in English and translated it into other language then it's yours ? OTTD was created by translating TTD ASM code to C but still it is property of TTD no matter what the language is

I belive that 0.6 version will have new graphics but apart that it's just altering orginal TTD code, not creating from scratch

so when is 0.6 going to be released ? this year ? if this year I am sure there will be a part of TTD in it
What's your problem..??

No one is selling openttd, so there is no profit.. No real illegally..

TTD is more than 10 year's old, ok the original start of OPENTTD was made from copies of the original code of TTD, big deal, how many games and programs aren't made like that, do you think that every company that makes a game, never had copy some parts of another game source, without the owner knowing??

No! Because earlier in the discussion we already have established that the game has changed and is NOT the same any more. My statement was just to point out that if program has changed AND language has changed then there is NOTHING left of original code. Ergo a total rewrite.

That the program is similar is still true, but it is NOT THE SAME.

Bad comparison. It's more like looking at the inner workings of a car and then making your own car with a different engine. It's functionally the same (it moves around when you want it to) but the internals are different.

And now I can see why this topic is discouraged... :)

And do you think that sawyer doesn't know that the patch and OpenTTD exist's?? Offcourse he knows, some time ago i send him a email asking what he think about TTD Mod's and what did he believe to be the best, and he answer me with this in the email:
http://www.openttd.com/
Yeah, i know this forum and openttd, thanks to him..
if that's true, then wow :D it makes argueing about this topic totally useless.

Nice! Than players can go back to playing the game, while devs can continue dev'ing.

I'm off!

I have my doubts about it, unless I can actually see the e-mail in question. Chris Sawyer was at least rather against TTDPatch and so on in the past. :?

Interesting Digitalfox. Could you show us/me the email? I am very curious as to what it exactly says :) If you don't want to show it to everyone you can PM me, or mail me at darkvater__at__openttd__dot___org.
