If a train runs on a horse carriage will we see a pool of blood instead of an explosion?

simple. Horses are so slow they could stop before any crossing in time. Just stop them from doing it. Horses would only be a good feeder service anyway.

There shall NOT be horses in the game

OpenTTD will NOT have horses, oxen, caravans, slaves or any other arcane transportation devices in the game
Darkvater.
Accidentally forgotten transportation devices do not mean that those will be in the game. This applies to but not excluding kanoes, backpackers, camels, carts, pigeons, whales, any transportation method from The Flintstones (tm), etc.

Oka i/we Understand
But how is it with old trains like the stephenson,s rocket and old sailng ships and steam ships.

I'm all for devices like steam ships or the rocket, but that'll time time

Might I ask why 19th Century road transport is "banned" from OTTD?

Because... Well, they just won't fit. There is no people visible in TTD, and nether is there animal wondering in the forest. A horse would break with that - aaand try and draw a horse in proper scale to OTTD (That'd be... Probably one forth of a current train).

if we are going to worry about TTD scale, then we need to make the ships a hell of a lot better than it is now. Noone knows if it would 'fit-in' in the 19th Century environment until the game is made to start in 1830.

I suggest that before anyone eaven thinks of older engines the game years should be looked at...
Either slow down the years so that a train can go from a to b within atleast a game month...
(Some BIGMAPS take "forever" to travel across but as for in real life it should take less than 3 day at it's most)
So if we build a steam engine only capable of traveling 20 MPH or 30 Km/h just how long would it take for that engine to cross an 11x11 map?
And would it be necissary to have a train depot every 20 square along the 2048 square map?
And what about slopes?
Just as a 3 sh '40' headed train hits a slope and drags 40 carriages it instantly slows down to 30 instead of using momentum to actually push itself up the slope...
If you travel in a "lada" (a car) on a highway giving that it's in somewhat good condition you would'nt slow down to 30 km/h just to START climbing now would you?
You would have accelerated so that the outcome is less painful for you, right?
I tested to see how the proportions are right now...
And a train that travels 10 squares at 177 km/h takes 4 seconds from start to finish in full speed.
But the game tells me that two days have passed too between start and goal...
If i convert this the train actually moves 3.6 kilometers per hour in proportion to the game speed...
Now thats really slower than walking!
Why not fix that first? and have a speed slider to make time pass faster instead.

i have nfi how you got that conversion - how about look at it differently each square is just really long

and everything else is miss proportioned,
its a game who really cares if the trains arent doing the actualy speed distance ratios they are sposed to be - they woudl be moving like lightning bolts if you changed it!

I was more concerned with reliability stuff when using older steam locos with speed that small...
How many depots would there be on a map if a train took say 100 game days just to travel 80 squares?
And furthermore why should i build a network of trains in the 19th century if a train takes more than 2 years just to complete one run?
Then the profit would be too small with the current payment ratio and i would mostly sit and look at a loco killing itself to travel along the track...
SO I THINK THIS HAS MORE TO DO WITH REALITY VS GAME!!!
And when you play a game you still want some realism otherwise people wouldnt spend time coding ragdolls for DOOM and CS:Source and other things now would they?
Ever since i first played TT i thought the game days just passed too quickly...

... sigh fine if you want to sit down for a year to play one game so be it i think its fine as it is.

So build the line shorter!!! Why across 11x11 map???

Hey look! There's a horse on this map!

Why aren't its legs moving... Is it flying above the ground or something?

Well, i would want biger ships... But that's not the main point, why i wouldn't like horses is because they won't fit. There is no pedestrians, no animals, no... Nothing living is vissible (Beside plants), so it would totally not fit at all!

TTD Can support animated sprites. Take a look for the power station smoke or the elevator on buildings, or even the airport radar dish.

Because you didn't turn on reallstic accleration in the patch settings
