Presumably you'll want a database for that... just let me know.

Erm... we could release the graphics,
it would be nice to get something coded so at least we can get the website looking interesting!

It's a choice you make. You can release the sprites as for example the Project Generic Stations does, or you can not release the sprites as for example the Dutch Trainset does.

We can always mock-up some screenies

What the hell are you guys doing here

I can't believe how many people are interested in continuing this set
I'll try to get the things together, which I have sent Bernhard months ago, but I can't guarantee that they will be complete

What else Information do you need?
PS: Still unemployed ... need to find a job until the end of next month, can't afford to pay my appartment anymore
@Purno: You could also get a non-mocked-up screenie of a basic Transrapid

I'll post the files next days (need some time to find them and compare different versions of them)

Best of luck to you Saskia! What sort of work do you do anyway?

Thanks!

Do you mean in this project? Dunno ... probably nothing, TTD doesn't even run anymore

No, you said you had to look for a job IRL, so, I was curious what you you do. I mean, what sort of job you are experienced in / looking for.
Saskia wrote:TTD doesn't even run anymore

Huh? It does for me.

Are you having troubles on your computer? Maybe we can help somehow.

Once they are ready to be coded, they should be on the website.
On the website, there should be a list of vehicles with the following details:
. Vehicle Name
. Link to the photos for unfinished graphics at least - no photos themselves or you may get into trouble with copyright issues.
. Graphics (sprites) once drawn; replaced with a pic once coded.
. Status: open/unclaimed, claimed for drawing, drawn/ready to code and coded.
. Artist, who claimed the vehicle for drawing and of course credit to the artist once done.
A list (most probably a spreadsheet) with all the vehicle statistics needed to code the vehicles is also needed.
On the website, I read that Bernhard is our NFO-coder. There should only be 1 coder (too many cooks spoil the broth). If Bernhard has enough time and wants to do the coding, that is fine with me. Otherwise I can do the coding.
I'd also like to know whether this set must/needs to be fully compatible with OTT. Your 'Wendezug-Steuerung' will be no problem with ttdpatch, I'm not so sure with OTT.

The question is, what is OTT capable of? I mean, generally sets issue a version for TTDPatch DOS and a separate but similar version for TTDPatch Windows. So you could have a third version for OTTD. But my understanding is that OTTD just isn't capable of many of the things the Patch can do, so it would necessarily be a somewhat limited set.
The more important issue, is that it somehow has to be compatible with MB's DB set so you have all the locos. Or were you planning on redoing them too?

I just started to get the hang of this set. My understanding is, that this set is to run in conjunction with the DBSetXL. It will replace (override) some of the less liked vehicles.
I could be wrong; ATM I don't know how many vehicles we have. At the last count (Aug 2004) there were 47 vehicles (engines and wagons) and some of them may easily share vehicle ID's.
That of course, will answer that question - DBSetXL is not compatible with OTTD (as things are ATM), so we can be more sophisticated with this set.

sorry, i don't have the time to code a full set. It would be very good if somebody else, e.g. YOU could do the job!

It would be nice if it would be 100% compatible with OTTD, because the DBSetXL isn't!
OzTransLtd wrote:

sure? It would be very nice if the trains could change the place of the engine. During coding the RE160 patchman told me that there is no chance to code that. If you do know a way.... tell me please!!!!
OzTransLtd wrote:

The DBSetXL is a full set, so there are not very much slots left. I do have a table with the slots used by M.Blunck, because i want to code the Berlin-S-Bahn, the VT133 and the RE160 in that way that they are compatible with the DBSetXL.
We have to decide one strage thing!
- to compete with DBSetXL or to complete. But as said before, ther is not very much space to complete.

@krtaylor: I'm looking for a IT job, or any other office job. But at the moment i would also work in a supermarket as cashier
And TTD isn't working because WINE doesn't work for some reason
DBsetXL extension or standalone:
Bernhard is right. Also MB told me once, that he wouldn't like a extension set, because it could mess up with DBsetXL, and in worst case he would insert deactivation code for the Passet. But that's understandable

If you look on the first page, I wrote that many vehicles simply don't look like their originals (but it became much better), so I wanted to start from scratch.
OTTD:
Would be nice, but OTTD develops. I vote for do a "normal" set for the first time. Then we (or better you) should try a OTTD compliant version if you have done the set for the Patch ... maybe OTTD already fully supports it then

But you could try to use mainly OTTD compliant actions, and listen, what the OTTD developers plan to do

Maybe they even include a exlusive Wendezugsteuerung
Files:
Next issue are some rare realitypictures found on the web

Hey Saskia, welcome back
I can't open .rar or .gz files (only .zip :oops ).

Ok, the case of copyrights is over from my side
Some set names that are not similar to others:
Bundesbahn set (Bundesbahn = Federal railways - because the DB is still called (Deutsche) Bundesbahn by many people, even if it's Deutsche Bahn AG now)
German train set
The tankers and hoppers in my sig where intended originally for Purno's European Cargo Set, but of course they could be used here
For a very incomplete vehicle list you can follow the link in my sig. There is also a developer link behind it, to edit the list. I'll send you the login as PN, and you can distribute it to all developers

Maybe you want the sourcecode of this table for the project's website? You only need PHP and MySQL support, and may modify it to your needs (open source).
@Purno: you can open that (WinZIP, WinRAR can read the format). Maybe rename it to .tgz

'Deutsche Bahn' Trainset sounds good, but I'll wait to see what else comes along.
We will most probably use spreadsheets and then upload them from time to time.

Purno: Saskia said that the freight wagons in her signature are actually from your 'European Cargo Set'. They look great. We are now looking for freight wagons for the 'Deutsche Bahn' Set as well as the Norwegian Trainset. Would you like to dust them off ? I am sure they would make a great contribution.

Well, they should still be in the correct topic in the TTD graphics section somewhere. The project itself is kind of dead, but if people are willing to pick up the topic, that would be great.

I opened it. I unzipped, I got a file called 'transrapid.tar_604' which I cannot open with winzip.
