I don't see a reason for two sets when players have the ability to disable any industry they don't want to use.

That makes sense. Will do it that way. I done a kids playground and fountains.

Shopping mall sign? That way we can create customized shopping malls with your various town and parking lot pieces.

Not a bad idea. Could have the sign accept cargos that you would find in a shopping mall than the mall cab be objects.

It unfortunate not able to place these where we want but if I arrange so they place outskirts of a town I think it should leave room to build own commercials. I had a look at Google Earth and some Industrial Estates have similar signs so a set can be made for those as well.

See what I can do during the week .. but not be Tuesday or Thursday.

Amazing job, I've been using graphics for some time and sometimes you can get lost in it.

Actually, I lost something, there used to be in "Auz Town Add Ons" V2, paths and parks&plazas (with pink or brick sidewalks). Now either I can't find it or it's not there.

Auz Town Commercial Set v12

Subject: Problem with 2x2 buildings.

By the NML code can only have 3 2x2 buildings.
20 stadium (N part)
32 stadium (modern style, N part)
40 shopping mall (N part)

If I use one of those numbers for 2 or more items one building seems to override the other and only 1 of them will build.

I will make a few changes and reduce the sizes of some of the 2x2 buildings and remove some.

Those three allow for pax and mail to be accepted anywhere you build them, kind of like the same idea for OTIS. As I said, putting the same idea into one set where users can enable or disable what they want would save some NewGRF slots.

Yes here in North America these malls are often some ways away from the town itself, usually along major highways for ease of access. Not to mention they are surrounded by acres of parking and sometimes located behind a lawn to further separate it from the highway.

Much thanks to "Fedello" I got the buildings building in towns of certain population using this code.

Yeah, that is indeed a good idea!
Even though that increasing the GRF-slot limit couldnt hurt either... :tongue:

Yeah, that is indeed a good idea!

I have vowed to never work on an industry set again ;-)
But I dont mind giving some suggestions :twisted:

I think it is a very good idea to combine a couple of the before mentioned small industrysets and expand those a little.
And indeed the handiest way is to use the base of OTIS:
*8 types of industries (with the same produce/acceptance as OTIS):
-Farms
-Fishing & Offshore
-Heavy Industries
-Manufacturing Industries
-Mines & Quarries
-Residential Estates
-Shopping Centres
-Utility Companies

*FUND ONLY & PLACE-ABLE EVERYWHERE & AT ANY YEAR!!
Or at least a parameter to get the above ;-)

And then think about what nice (one-tile) graphics can suit those 8 types.

Yep, maybe make two types, so that there is a different looking one for SHOPPING CENTRES and for MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES (I think those are in industrial estates).



For MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES, I think this design is very suitable (and you can then simply do a couple of different colored ones)

For SHOPPING CENTRES a design like this (this one is done by SAC, so you cant use this exact graphic, but as an inspiration ;-) ) could work,
as it is probably large enough to see some company names/logo's (also in a couple of different versions).

For RESIDENTIAL ESTATES, you can then use indeed parks/plaza's/houses/flats from all kinds of GRFs
And indeed also some beaches, but to make it different from Beaches-As-Industries GRF, a couple more variants (at least a couple WITHOUT people on beaches, so just the sand, as that I think is missing from the original GRF).

For UTILITY COMPANIES, take a look at your Auz Power & Telephone Objects. I think there are loads of usable objects in that (certainly the telephone masts).

For FISHING & OFFSHORE, you have loads of stuff in your Water Objects offcourse ;-)

For FARMS, you also have loads of stuff

For HEAVY INDUSTRIES and MINES & QUARRIES, I am not sure...
I think some sort of signs like for Shopping Centres and Manufacturing Industries, but I dont have any ideas...
Maybe parking lots? Or fences/gates? I dont really know what is suitable...
Maybe some others can give some good suggestions...

And do not forget to include the original OTIS overlappable ones, that way it can be used to replace OTIS too (and free up another GRF slot)
So, just start with OTIS (call it OTIS+ for example ;-) ) and just add more nice looking graphics for the eight industry types.

It this set I working on I believe limited to within town boundaries.

Ahhh, I see...
I dont have any experience with housing sets, but what are the mechanics then if:
1. A city grows, thus TOWNZONE_EDGE moves outward.
Will the "industryhouse" then eventually be destroyed/replaced in the old zone and will then a new "industryhouse" appear in the more outward zone?
If so, that would not be handy as the eyecandy stuff that a player has placed around it, will not move...

2. Is it possible then to make the "industryhouse" irremovable/non-destructable like cathedrals?
Or is this just limited to a certain amount of buildings/houses?

I've experimented in scenario builder and keep making the town increase in size. They seem to stay put and more build as the town expands.

Good question. Guess the only way I will find the answer is to play a game and see what happens when the town expands.

When I first started to make this set my idea was to have a item that is placed in towns so the town would accept a variety of cargos.
